Someone please buy and then donate that to MM. Talk about getting kids to the track!

I feel dirty after looking at that.

I don't think its worth the asking price. But I've seen this car at the track and it is purdy.

Yea That's a little steep for a car with no working heat, shitty AC, and an interior that while clean looks like it is from an e36 (old, faded, and about to fall apart if you look at it wrong) (maybe not the last one but still)

Steep, but that is hot. The only LSX7's I've seen go for north of $25k have been either lower mileage cars with newer-gen motors or stupid clean, every nut-and-bolt new type of builds.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Evan - 06-30-2013

wtf is up with that front plate mount?

Evan Wrote:wtf is up with that front plate mount?

It's a goofy part of the JDM Series 8 bumper ('99-'02). Repro's have been made w/o the plate area, but I find that just gives kind of a dumb smile to the opening

Everytime I see that car, I want to fap. My student from HFest12 (with the red turbo S2k that was so clean, you could eat out of the engine bay) now owns this car. I think about offering him money everytime I've seen him at the track but I ain't gonna be offering $27.5k. It really is gorgeous though and I don't think these pics do it justice.

Definitely steep, but not too surprised. He is trying to take advantage of the current hot market for these swaps. That said, you can tell by the description how many short-cuts and "dont care" attitude he had with that car. I wouldnt touch it with a 10-foot pole.

Mint low mileage AP1. Do want. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=2474706

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - WRXtranceformed - 07-01-2013

What makes the first year S2000 superior / inferior to the other years?

Not going to lie, I included that on my initial car search even though it fulfills none of my requirements other than i think it would be fun as hell to drive

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - JPolen01 - 07-01-2013

S2000 experts will need to chime in, but the AP1 revs to 9k where as the AP2 is lower (7500?). I think the AP2 got some suspension upgrades however.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - D_Eclipse9916 - 07-01-2013

Weak retainers, trans gearing(a plus), plastic rear window, tiny width wheels, 2.0L vs 2.2, suspension upgrades were all just tuning shocks/bars/springs I beleive.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Maengelito - 07-01-2013

^^ basically that. I will add that the 00-03 (AP1) had a 2L engine that redlined at 9k, the 04-09 (AP2) had a 2.2L engine that redlined at 8k. I believe the hp figures were the same, but the AP1 had a LOLwhatstorque? curve that got bumped up about 15ish ftlbs to the AP2's LOLoh.torque. curve. The AP1 motor has weaker valve retainers which are much more stout on the AP2 motor. The rear diff is also said to be much weaker on the AP1. There were a couple of different styling cues between the AP1 and AP2, of which I prefer the latter, which is my very biased opinion. I think there are subtle differences between the shocks/spring rates/sway bars between 00-01, 02-03, 04-05, 06-09 models as well. The 02+ came with glass rear windows. The 06+ came with ESC.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some other things but these are the major things. Its completely impractical but its the most fun car I've ever driven. It still puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Sully - 07-01-2013

Ap2 definitely has a nicer interior and I also prefer the outside styling as well. We get EDIT: carbon synchros in the trans as well(I don't think Dj said that, maybe he did) even though I'm not sure it makes a difference. AP2 is supposed to be a more "streetable" car.

I believe he is saying its special because it a very first year which got you a shitty plastic rear window.

06+ also got an ambient air temp sensor and read-out on the cluster ;-)

Carbon synchros, not carbon fiber. Which reminds me, do you get that 2nd gear grind when its cold?

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Sully - 07-02-2013

I get second gear pop out sometimes when the trans is cold. It seems somewhat unrelated to outside temp other than trans taking a fraction longer to come to temp. Not moving pop out mind you, it pops out right when i put it in second and will then grind if I try to get it back into second
