SV650S: Wow... Very surprised with this, and that's a bad thing. It was like riding a scooter. No excitement, just brrrr here we go... slowly. Probably the perfect beginner bike because you'd have o try pretty hard to get in any trouble on it. I will not say I'm getting another bike, but if I do, there is no way it'd be one of these. SNORRRRE. A pipe is an absolute must... his stock can was blehhhhhh.
Titan: Wow... Very surprised with this, and that's a good thing. One of the few trucks I've ever driven that actually drives decently. It really just felt like a big car. Very nice steering, very nice finish... Good stuff.
Just thought I'd share
Nice to try different things now and then.

i actually have a sale pending on the SV, so it'll likely be gone in the coming weeks. i liked the SV for the first week i had it, but it grew old quickly to me and i didn't find it much fun riding it (when compared to the 600rr). I'll be looking for my next bike (likely a 600cc or 1000cc sport bike) in the coming months depending on other factors. I kind of want to hop on the band wagon for fixing up an old bike for cheap, but we'll see after i do some research.
i'm in love with the Titan though. it's proved to be very useful for the few weeks that i've had it.

they are noted for their handling... something you probably shouldnt push on the street. a 650cc twin vs. a 600cc inline 4... well you should have known the "fun" factor before you bought it lol

I'm going to have to give this thing a whirl.... I wouldn't expect it to be fun in a straight line, but they're light, and supposed to be nimble, so I kind'a wonder what the downside is.

I just think it's, you know, mildly amusing that you think a 100 horsepower V4 would feel anything like a 65 horsepower VTwin. I mean, most people when they talk about all the cool parts of an SV are talking about handling and price, not acceleration and sound (though I agree that they don't sound too bad on a pipe.).

Plus - what's with everybody needing gobs of power to have fun on a bike for? I'm sure there's at least one car on this board that's faster than both of my running motorcycles... and I still very much enjoy both the bikes.

don't act like there isn't something sickeningly amusing when you goose the throttle, realize that "oh shit, this thing can go." sure, touring and just being on a bike is mucho enjoyable... gobs of power is retarded, yes... i think 100 is enough to give that little tickle.

Sure it's fun... but it doesn't really have much place on the street. Every time I get tired of riding, I hop on my DRZ and I'm back in funland. And I don't even think it makes 40 at the back wheel.

It's not like I don't know the distinction. A WOT run on a sportbike, even from zero to highway speed on an on-ramp is irresponsible with the power the things are making. It's not like you need to be doing double the posted limit to get in trouble with power.

I'm not trying to argue myopically on the subject... believe me, my F4 is still around because I harbor dreams of riding a bike that makes some real power again.
That said, I don't think you need to have power on a motorcycle to have fun at all. My next bike may even have less power than the DRZ - but I'll be able to do some real offroad exploring on it, it'll be practical, different, and just generally fun to toot from A to B on.
I rode a new 1000RR recently and really, I didn't like it at all. The power didn't scare me, but I just didn't like the package. I'll take my comfy nonsportbikes over one of those human folding racks anyday

something different :-P I wasn't really looking to buy one, but i got it for half of the money i got from the insurance claim i got from the RR. i thought i'd give it a shot and see what it was like.
the 600rr to me was more fun in the twisties as well. it's not that i need gobs of power to have fun, but the overall ride wasn't preferred by me. I didn't know what to expect since the other bikes i've ridden prior to the SVs were sporty inline 4s. The SVs have gotten a lot of hype from newbies and from experienced riders from what i read in the past and i wanted to know what it was all about. The SV didn't seem as refined as the RR and it seems that i've distinguished more of what i want from a motorcycle thanks to owning the SV.
The SV is definitely a nice bike and well built, but i just found that it's not for me. It's a great bike for around town and the one thing that i do love about the SV is the exhaust note. With an aftermarket can it would sound incredible IMO. The SVs would probably make a great track bike since it feels like the powerband is pretty even throughout its delivery - as proven with a lot of track enthusiasts. The brakes could use an upgrade, and although it is quite nimble, i could flick the RR around quicker due to my experience on it.
Oddly enough, i rode a Hayabusa that belongs to my cousin and i was impressed by it. Something i wasn't expecting. The weight of the busa was definitely there, but the seating position and the refinement of the transmission were really nice to have. Naturally the power was there, and it was nice not having to shift to pass someone - but despite the massive amount of power, it seems a bit unnecessary for the roads. I liked it because it was comfortable, easy to ride, and felt like a very refined motorcycle.

obviously, and owning/riding the SV has further developed what i want from a motorcycle
now i want to ride more and different kinds of motorcycles to experience what they have to offer
excluding opinions:
2004 Suzuki SV650s:
Pro: affordable, aftermarket availability, v-twin exhaust note
Cons: no fuel guage
2007 Suzuki Hayabusa:
Pros: Refined transmission, instant power in any gear, very comfortable seating position
Cons: Sticker price, heavy (weight and steering) - as expected

FWIW, I still think that about my bike. I haven't ridden anything for any distance besides bobo chrome (which is slower) so my perspective is skewed... but it's enough.
