20 years ago on or about April 4th, Madison Motorsports got its sanction as an official student organization at JMU. At the time we were just trying to find a way we could enjoy this hobby with friends in a way that would let us do more than we could by ourselves. But from the start, the idea was that long after we left JMU, that MM would stay strong, and maybe grow a little bit.

2 decades later and so many people have kept MM strong, built great friendships, and gone on great adventures.

Normally we might have been gearing up for a MM car show or some sort of party at this time of year, but of course, da' Rona. I'm hoping we can have some sort of track day reunion or party of some kind later this year when things are more normal. Covid has been a huge, once in a century upheaval, but at the same time it's a reminder that things are changing rapidly. Twilight is fast approaching for ICE performance cars so we may not be able to enjoy this hobby in the same way in the years to come. And bigger than that, you never know how much time you have left with all the friends you've made along the way. I hope we can find a few ways to celebrate MM's 20th birthday this year and celebrate all of the great friendships and experience this club has brought us.

Kinda unusual to see two cars in this class debut the same day but I ain't complainin.

The 992 GT3 dropped this morning with a bit more info and the configurator is up in some of the overseas markets. Already knew that it was the only 911 to get double wishbones in the front, but today they revealed that they ran a 6:59 Ring time with it. It seems like just yesterday only the first street legal street cars we're going under 7 minutes, and now the *regular* GT3 can do it. I'm on the wait list for it but truth be told my name probably wouldn't come up until sometime next year or later.

FS: 2006 Nissan Titan. Low Miles! One Owner! Body Beat to Shit!

So over the years my Titan has collected its share of dings and dents.
I was in midst of buying parts to make it more presentable when it got backed into by a high schooler while parked, which pushed it over my personal "beat to shit" threshold limit. Im moving out of the area in 3 weeks and dont have time to get it fixed, so Im thinking of selling it as-is. Which sucks because I love having a beater truck.

Since I know some of you keep an eye on the truck market (though probably not the beat-ass truck market), Im looking for opinions on what it may bring on the market.

2006 Nissan Titan SE (mid model) 2wd
Tow Package, bed rails and spray in bed liner (that has a few bubbles)
Miles 44,000. Engine and trans are very strong. Trans flush a few thousand miles ago.
Plenty of tread on tires, plenty of meat on the brakes, and a fresh alignment this week.
Mechanically in good shape except for a bad brake fluid sensor that happens on all these trucks but I didnt fix because I have eyes. $170 part if you cant handle the light in the dash
The batteries in the tire pressure sensors ran out so that light is on. I didnt fix because I can read a tire pressure gauge.

I normally go to Katies Cars and Coffee in Great Falls, Saturday mornings as it is always a wild place to see anything from Wayne Carrini checking out a BMW 507 to stance nation boys rolling through, there is a car for everyone (at least before covid) but after more than 5 years going religiously I saw the coolest car I think I have ever seen and it wasn't even at Katies. I was running errands today in the 4Runner and a Guntherwerks 993 pulled up beside me at a stoplight. To most people this would look like a modified 993, but the who's who of the zoo know how special it really is. I was awestruck and unfortunately did not get a video of it taking off, but I did get this picture

IDK if this will gain traction, or if it's already on the forums (I searched with no results) but I wanted to get a list going of the best driving roads ("touge" and cruising) all over Virginia and the surrounding areas.

I wanted to share my top picks if anyone was in the area (living / passing thru). I live in McLean, Va (NoVa) and I've got a few nice hilly roads if you wanna try bringing out the inner-rally driver in you.

1) Kirby Road, McLean. Kirby Road starts (my perspective) when Idylwood Rd turns into Kirby, and ends at the intersection of Kirby and 123. Going towards 123 is fun but not as challenging as the run towards Idylwood. My favorite part is going towards Idylwood when there are two blind right-handers in sequence.
-MAJOR PRO: speed limit is 35 when it should be 25 so take advantage of it.
-MINOR CON: There is one corner where it is a left hander (to 123) that is off cant (left hander with the inside of the corner raised) and then a protruding barrier you MUST avoid (can be seen in video when I pass the black car going around the corner).
Video of me and my Teggy running Kirby: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLeJQ13DgNc&t=5s

2) River Bend Road, Great Falls. This one is tricky... When you turn right onto River Bend from Georgetown Pike, you have probably a mile(?) before you hit your first stop sign. You can either go left or straight (right = dead-end). Left is cool but straight is cooler. I like this road cuz it's super hilly and some of the hills you could get air if you have the balls and money to repair what you break on impact.
-MINOR CON: Gotta know the road before going fast.
-MAJOR PRO: Super fun.

3) Georgetown Pike (westward), Fairfax County (multiple towns). For this I am talking about the stretch from the Beltway to Old Dominion Road. This section is around 4 miles of twist and straight roads all mixed together.
-MAJOR CON: always filled with traffic (very nice people going the speed limit).
-MINOR CON: one or two deceiving corners where it tightens up much quicker than what it looks like from the start.

It's been nine years since I was on track, except one 24 hours of LeMons at CMP about six years ago. Despite about 150 track days, I've never driven anything with more than 200 hp on a track and I've never driven anything with more than 350 hp evaR. At 661 hp, I haven't felt anything this scary fast since first fully opening the throttle on my Duc 848. This was also my first time on any track west of Mid-Ohio, even though this one is less than an hour from my house. Everything was rusty and most of my lines show it

If I'm honest, I haven't felt this alive in a long time. I forgot how great it was to be on track... especially when you don't have to do any of the prep. lulz. It makes me want to prep the 911 for a couple auto-x sessions a year. I know it won't be the same as this, but that feeling when you hit a line correctly is pretty addictive.

The car itself was pretty awesome. The gearbox was way better than I expected, except one time when it got confused when I mashed it on an uphill section. We were supposed to have it on Wet mode because a small shower passed right before I got it, however the instructor had me run it in Sport. I'm a pretty big guy, so I was kinda amazed I fit so well in this car. It was waaaay more comfortable than I expected. My only real complaint was lateral support with the stock three-point belts. If I had a spare $300 grand, I might consider buying one of these.

They made a giant deal of me clipping an apex cone on lap 4 or 5. The instructor was cool about it, but there was an inspection and copying of in-car video for investigation. They apparently charge $200 to "inspect the car" and also any repairs. It seems draconian, although I guess that's how they make sure these cars stay in working order. Anyway, they didn't charge me anything. My instructor, who was a pretty cool guy, told me he advocated for no charge because that one come was farther into the track than the others. Might be BS, but he declined me tipping him, so I trust him.
