My name is Chase Lewis and I’m going to be running for Vice President

If you don’t know me I’m the guy who buys broken cars. I have been in the club for two years, current officers have tried to get me to run. This year I have the time to finally be an officer. I frequent the forums quite a bit, but rarely post because I know alums have way more knowledge than I do. Also I participate in almost every event and meeting. As for motor sport experience, I have little, but my dad has a lot. He auto crossed and tracked an escort GT, which he won a lot. I’ve been trying to get into autocross my current vehicle, an r56 JCW, but it has been broken each time I want to run. I have bought broken cars in the past, but have fixed them. I fully restored a 66 F-100, did almost everything on my mk1 rabbit, and have done a lot on my current car.

Enough about me here’s what I will bring to the club.

First and foremost people who want to drive should go to motor sport events. We need to show people it is more than just driving around a parking lot. I also feel MM can spread out a bit. Such as sending some people to big car shows and other car events. Every time I went to a show in my rabbit people would always ask about my MM sticker. We need to spread the word about MM, I get many questions about MM from people on campus. I want to make MM full of passionate drivers who want to learn the right way.

I’m a pretty responsible person, I have to be considering I have work, broken cars, and school. I do not like sitting around, so MM would fit nicely in my schedule. Definitely any work put on my metaphorical plate would get done fast and complete.

Finally, considering my car is basically a tool truck and I love fixing cars, I am down to help any MM’er or friend in need of assistance or, not to sound condescending, any knowledge I can provide. Also I enjoy digging through junk yards trying to find that last factory bolt so the judge won’t take a point off (car show stuff).
Overall, I believe I have a lot to add to MM this year. I would push for more motor sport events and shows like we’ve never had before. Also, I have a ton of mechanical knowledge, building motors, wiring, and suspension. I’m extremely responsible and will try my best to get anything I am ask of done quickly.

I think I would a good fit for Vice President.

Hey MM! Quick run down of who I am since I just made my introduction post and most of you probably haven't seen it yet. My name is Adam, I am from Chesapeake, and I'm a sophomore here at JMU going for a double major with three minors. I know, that may sound like a lot, but as of now, I hope to one day be able to work for NASA... So I have high standards to live up to. I'm currently still on my first vehicle, a 2003 Mustang that my dad and I have done work on.

Why am I running for an officer position in MM? Simply because I'd like for the club to allow other students the opportunities that I have already experienced in just my first year in the club. Being able to hangout with some other hooligans at car shows, a wrench night, this past weekend's experience at VIR, and future events like the annual car show and autocross have and will continue to be experiences that I hope to always remember from college. By helping to lead the club, I hope that we can allow for current and future members to also share these experiences.

Why treasurer in particular? To be honest, with my busy schedule from my majors and minors, I would be worried about holding a position such as President or Vice President, so I instantly narrowed it down to Treasurer or Secretary. I figured that since I have taken a few business courses here at JMU already, that I have at least somewhat of an understanding of how the finances should work. After carpooling down and back to VIR with the current treasurer, James, I have learned a lot more about what the treasurer does for the club.

What is one aspect of MM that I would like to improve? Involvement of freshman who probably don't have their car here. For me, as a freshman, I knew about MM, but was not comfortable with joining since I didn't have my Mustang here during the first semester. Looking back, I wish that I had just joined, grabbed rides with current students, and went to events with the club since I know that I still would've had fun! I would like for next year's officers to find ways to show these students without cars that they can still enjoy everything MM has to offer.

In the end, I'm really running for treasurer due to one main reason: to improve MM and the experiences that others can gain from MM!

Hello guys! My name is Joseph Plauger and I am currently a freshman here at JMU. I am majoring in Computer Science, although that might be changing soon depending on a few factors. I just recently joined the forums, as you can probably tell, but I have been a decently active member with MM since the beginning of this school year. I will become a lot more active on here as I've heard it's a great place

My interest in cars didn't really take off until junior year of high school, but once I got a taste for them I was hooked instantly. I do not currently own a car, but I am in the market for one if I can find a cheap enough car for me to afford. When I found out that JMU had a car club, there was no way that I wasn't going to join.

Let's talk about the position and why I feel I am qualified for it... I am running for Secretary to help make this club bigger and better than it was last year. Secretary requires a lot of work with emails and social media, including phone calls and paperwork. I am able to handle emails pretty well and I'm sure a lot of you currently in MM who follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter know my involvement in social media. For those that are unfamiliar, I have been a very active member of Facebook for quite a long time. I also have taken many pictures of MM events as well as random cars I see around and post them to my Instagram account fairly regularly. This leads into something I believe we could do a little better on this coming year... social media posting. I can regularly add pictures of MM events to any social media account we have and keep it updated, especially Instagram. Cool looking car pictures is an essential to any car club, in my opinion.

Any other duties that a Secretary is obligated to complete, such as keeping good notes from all meetings and keeping track of minutes, shouldn't be any problem for me. Helping to order apparel and stickers are foreign to me, but shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I'm sure there are also quite a few other things that I will have to do that I haven't mentioned here, but just like the above... they shouldn't be extremely hard to figure out and do a decent job at.

I would absolutely love Madison Motorsports to become a club that is well known here at JMU. We have progressed so much in that over the years, but I still feel like there is some more that can be done in that department. Through more involvement with social media, I feel like we can grow our audience more and receive better recognition throughout campus and the surrounding areas.

Madison Motorsports is a club very close to my heart and something that needs to stay around forever if at all possible. I am running for Secretary to help make this club bigger and better than it was last year. I will do anything I can to keep MM running on all four wheels. I know this is pretty short, so feel free to bombard me with questions!

Hey guys. I'm Chris Ryder. I’m currently a senior here at JMU but I will be here for a 5th year and I am running for secretary.

Just a little bit about me: My interest for cars really took off in high school when I took two years of auto where my class would perform actual work on vehicles. I started working on my own car as well as others and it provided me with a vast amount of learning opportunities, and now, I am a member of MM, and the opportunities continue to grow.

I've been a member of MM since Fall of 2014. I've loved every minute of being a member of this club and I would like to be more than just a member next year. I will be one of the oldest active members of MM next year and I believe that I have some advice, guidance, and experience that can help maintain this awesome club.

From last year to this year, I have already seen some improvements to MM. The signup sheet for helping with the car show and letting members choose what shifts they want will make the car show more enjoyable this year. The means of communication between members keeps getting better. Sometimes I would miss when a meeting date/time would be because I may not have been on Facebook when it was posted, but now, I can look and it's right there on my phone. This is essential for getting new members to join and retaining old members.

I would like to see more casual meetings rather than just classroom meets and cruises. Cruises are nice, but I enjoy the Kline’s/cruise combo where the new members get to interact with current ones and possibly some alumni. It combines the cruise/casual meetings into one. I am not implying we have to get ice cream at Kline’s every time we cruise, but it would be nice to cruise and then have a chance to talk with people. Another thing I would like to see is more Friday nights spent at Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro. It’s only $10 to watch and $20 for unlimited runs. We haven’t gotten a chance to do that this year and it’s something I would like to get going again.

I will be available to attend a good majority of MM events during the year. Unfortunately, this year my attendance at events has been down due to my mom having health problems which has kept me busy most weekends, which also leads to me being busier during the week. She has made almost a full recovery so I don’t see it being a problem for next year. Since MM is the only club I am a part of, I will give all the effort that I’m capable of in order to help this club continue to succeed.

I look forward to the opportunity to make Madison Motorsports better and helping it grow.

Hello everyone,

My name is Ryan Allen for those who don't know and I drive a heavily modified 86 Camaro built to handle well. I will be graduating early in December of next year and with that being said will only be available to help officiate the club for a single semester. I am looking to help provide senior support and guidance to the upcoming officers in relation to club events and activities that I have participated in the last two years. In addition to helping the club as a whole I will be looking to take some stress off of the upcoming officers and allow them plan and arrange longer term goals for the club and develop the atmosphere that they envision.

In summary I will simply assist with any needs of the officers while voicing ideas and suggestions from my experience in the club. This position will be extremely flexible and will allow for an extra set of hands while keeping the club moving in a positive direction.

If there are any questions or concerns please feel free to ask.

I am going to try and keep this short and sweet as I've been told I might be a big talker

I will be finishing up my first year here as an International Business major, and my first year as part of MM. To me, it was everything I was looking for in a club, group of friends, as well as mentor and alumni network. That being said, I do feel as if there are ways in which the club can develop into a more interactive and involved group of friends and enthusiasts alike.

1) I know the weather hasn't been great this year, especially with this so called "winter" we had, but the events for me have seemed pretty scarce. I would like to work with the other members to organize more formal as well as informal events for everyone to get together and hang out. Whether that be Grand Tour nights at somebodies apartment, more club dinners(oh you know I love dinners ), or simply organized wrench days in some poor apartment complex's parking lot for all of the member's current projects.

2) I think there is something behind the idea of an MM project car, and really want to help bring that into reality within the next year. There has been some scattered interest here and there on the forums but I really think it will be an awesome project for all members of the club, as well as something for JMU students to recognize us by in a positive light (so they hopefully forget about the whole bus incident). I would like to look into the legal and financial logistics of this idea further and really gauge the members to see how many people would be willing to participate in this.

3) I would like to find out if there is anything the members want that hasn't been addressed by current or former leaders of MM. I feel as if in the chat, it is always the same 5-10 people talking, yet I see 40+ members in the group. I am wondering if there are things people are interested in that aren't being discussed that the next exec team can look into. I want everyone to feel welcome in this club and would love to see more people involved in the discussions and activities we have.

I like spending time on things I really enjoy, and for me that would be cars and this club. Cars have been my whole life, all the way back to when my first bed as a racecar shell with a mattress inside of it. I know being in this position won't be easy, but I am willing to put in the hard work needed to help this club continue to grow and evolve.

Can't wait to see you all next year at the first meeting, and hope we can all possibly get together this summer for some sort of MM impromptu event!
