Hey everyone!

By now most of you either know me, or have at least seen my name on all the emails however I'll still give a short intro about myself. My name is Sam Spicer, I currently am Vice President of the club and have been in the club since I was a Freshmen, which was when Cody was President. I'm a CIS major and while I'm a currently a Junior I already know I'll be here for a victory lap as well, but the good news about being here for a victory lap is I never have to take more than 12 credit hours per semester for the rest of my college career giving me quite an advantage of free time for being President next year. Another thing is I'm living with Ryan Herold and Anthony Manno next year, and with 3 officers living together it would mean we are constantly working for the club while we are not in class. I think that the team of officers this year did a decent job, with that said as being one of those officers I really got to see what we need to work on and what we need more of.

What I'd like to do as President
I would like to further increase our attendance in the club, this year we started out strong having nearly 30 members show up per meeting, but as the year went on we trailed off to about a steady 10-15 per meet. I think we can do that by having members reach out to the new members (like I always have) and exchange phone numbers and try and reach out to them and entice them to come out and stay active in the club. I'd also like to get us in on the JMU mass emails at the start of next year while Freshmen still actually read all their emails, and also hand out sheets of paper at the commons with info on MM to help spread our name (as a large portion of JMU students have never heard of us).

Getting more member's directly translates into more money for the club, and the more money we have the more we can do fun stuff. So if we can up the membership then we can go karting more often, have cookouts, cooler/more apparel, and have more MM get-togethers on club money. Also we could possibly even do a "we pay half your first hyperdrive" kinda deal to entice more kids to show up to the track, as that got us quite a few member's to come out to the College solo this year and everyone knows once you take that first hit of the go fast crack pipe it's pretty much impossible to put down.

I'd like to be more organized as a club for next year, and what I mean by that is, I want things more planned out instead of planning things 2 days before they happen. I realize some of that is unavoidable, like the drag strip meets earlier this year, Eastside doesn't post up that they will be allowing test N' tunes for the night until the day before or even the day of usually. However, I'd still like things more planned out so that people have some notice to plan their weekends around.

I'd really like to be able to do more social events for next year, and we will actually have space to do it next year as 2 different members have volunteered up their apartments to hold events at, as well at mine, Ryan and Anthony's place. So let the Toretto styled cookouts commence!

For the car show I'd like to carry on with what Garrett started this year and continue to grow the show, as the bigger show we hold the more chance it has for bringing in new member's! I would also like to have things better planned and prepared for next year's car show as the week before we really still had a lot of planning to do which I felt should have already been done and with a solid plan it's hard to fail. As a quote my father always tell's me "Men don't plan to fail. They fail to plan, and that's what causes real failure."

So with that being said I have a plan for next year and by no means do I plan to fail the club as President!

Hello all,

My name is Ryan Herold. I'm going to be running for Vice President. I drive the black Mazda3 sedan and have been in the club since Freshman year but a bit more active this year since I have a car up here. A little bit about me for people who don't know I'm Florida, my mom's an Alumni. I will be a junior CIS major next year. I work at the CampusNet department for JMU.

Well I believe we need some more social events. We need to get the Freshman attendance up and feel welcome to the club as they don't have a car here. When I was a Freshman I felt like I couldn't do anything because of the lack of transportation so I didn't do as many things. We should maybe try have more on-campus meals to get together like there were last year to offer Freshman the chance to join in and get to know others. We should keep offering rides to Freshman as well. All in all we need to get people to get into the club and stay before they get too involved in other things.

I think we should keep doing the awesome job with car show. Maybe have it twice a year instead of just the one in the Spring. Fall and Spring car show I think would be both great successes. I also would like to go karting more than just once. I know it is costly and we always lose money on it but it has been awesome way to get everyone together. I still think we need to keep with it for the NASA events at VIR and Summit. I also think we should be more inviting and try to attend more Auto-x opportunities than just at Verona as a club. Keep the Kline's meet twice a year as well once in the Spring/Fall.

I think we need to also look into other local events such as drifting at Shenandoah Speedway and Summit, cruises, etc... that some people may enjoy. As always who doesn't want to go on more club cruises? Maybe we can try and figure out other routes besides just 33W.

Also, we need to get some fundraising ideas out there. Car washes are simple and effective as well as bake sales are a couple ideas that we definitely need. Keep the apparel orders going I know a lot of people like that for the Fall.

Feel free to bring up any questions!

Hey everyone I know I don’t talk that much on the forum so I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Anthony, I am a sophomore accounting major and I would like to run for club treasurer.

I drive a blue kia forte koup and I’ve been in MM for both years that I have been at JMU. I went to literally everything my freshman year so you’ve probably seen me last year or sometime this year. I am very organized and good at managing money, hence the major. The two biggest things I want to improve is the timeliness of decisions to do things and increasing our funds. We could possibly work on setting things up at least a work or two in advance so people know when the events are and schedule around them. We could also look up dates at the beginning of the semester pick a few days at the drag strip or wherever and send an email out to everyone seeing their availability for different days. Doodle works amazing when it comes that stuff and takes five seconds to check a box. Just an idea. The other thing is club funds. We are broke 95% of the time. When we discussed the car show I noticed that a lot of things weren’t possible because we didn’t have the money. I noticed we didn’t sell many autocross shirts. I was thinking we could make annual car show shirts rather than the auto x ones. We can also look into putting sponsors on the back of the car show shirts or the regular shirts members have since there is nothing on the backs of them anyways. Then of course we would continue with the raffles and things we did this year.

Other smaller things. We could always have more social events. Like Kline’s cruises, dinners, whatever, just to get the members out to meet with each other. Other than that I think the officers all did a great job this year and I look forward to another successful year.

Hey guys! I've been told I can make up positions (in more professional terms) and I feel like this is the perfect position to run for. I'm good at talking, since I do it a lot, and I feel as though I have a few good connections I can always expand on when MM wants something. I love reaching out to new people and I REALLY REALLY want to get the word of MM out to the world, including JMU's campus. I'm pretty obsessed with MM, and I'm very excited that I joined as a freshmen and made so many friends already. Now I've got at least 3 more years of fun ahead! One more than a lot of people

I really want to focus on more people knowing about MM. I have quite a few ideas like working on some shirts, which I've made a few designs, that say "Madison Motorsports - JMU Driver's club" or something similar. Just like the other club shirts. No one knows we're a club, and we need to change that. I want a bigger/better presence at Student Org night so freshmen know to look forward to joining us.

I see that MM doesn't really act as a club as much other clubs do, and I want to work on getting MM to feel like one large group of friends instead of a few cliques. I want new members to feel very welcome and not have to FORCE themselves into social situations within the club. We all should reach out to new members and take them under our wings. Maybe even have a Big-Little system. There's a reason clubs have them, and to such a great success. I'd HAPPILY have a little freshmen I drove around to all of our stuff and helped with anything he needed. Kinda like Sam, Ryan, and Chris did for me this year.

I also am opening my house in Copper for MM events next year. I want to have more club dinners, Maybe even a thanksgiving event like CCVT did. I can always get a hookup on some bulk, discounted food from Cracker Barrel, but I'm willing to cook, with some help.

I also want to make the car show even bigger and next year. I'm a stickler for planning ahead and I really want to be in an official position to help next year. As always, I'll be the guy with the truck to haul stuff around. I'm sure I can get even more stuff donated for raffles, and hopefully draw a bigger offroad crowd next year too. I can definitely get us the RTI ramp again, which was awesome.

I'm sure there are tons more I can/should say, but I'm rushing to get this typed before heading to work, so I'll answer any questions y'all can throw at me!

Hey all!

I'm sure at this point you've at least heard my name but in the event you haven't I'll give you a quick introduction. My names Garrett Hughes, I'm a junior currently and am pursuing a double degree in Finance and Intelligence Analysis. I've been involved in Madison Motorsports since I first came to JMU in 2011 with Cody as captain. I've watched MM grow through my years and progress in a better direction. I've owned quite a few cars ranging from a Civic to WRX to E30 and even my automatic station wagon (selling by the way). I have way too many interests to name through on here but some of my favorites are biking, photography, and snowboarding.

Anyway onto my campaign speech:

I said last year that we would have more attendance and I believe I succeeded in that. This year we managed to raise $1,200 at our spring car show with over 100 cars registering. Awesome turnout and something even I wasn't expecting. I want to continue this and expand it even more to the whole entire convo lot (last minute restraints caused this and some other difficulties). I also believe that we succeeded with more social gatherings throughout the year. These included cruises, Klines, and some drinking. Now I'm not going to sit back and say we had a perfect year, because we did not. Some things we could have done better/ should improve next year are posting on the home page (we slacked hard on this), getting people to the track, and getting people on the forum. I'm not quite sure how to fix this problem. I'm thinking next year we won't give you your sticker/shirt until I see you registered on the forum (is that too far?). The track I just can't seem to understand why people don't come. It's free for the most part and a blast. I'm brainstorming ways to fix this problem. Although we did have amazing attendance to the college solo and Ray said it was the best one in a long time, so maybe it's a time issue. Another thing we did okay was on fundraising. We made a few errors with number of shirts etc (especially the college solo shirts) and we were cutting it close at the end of the year but all in all we are starting with the same balance as we started with last summer and we won't have to order stickers and a whole new order of shirts so that's a plus. All in all I believe that this year has been a success and want to continue with this momentum into the next one.

Preparing myself for the barrage of questions/ hate/ love/ suggestions. Flame suit on, go!

It's about that time of year where officer elections start getting discussed. Naturally, all of us aluMMni want to see who's running as we do get a vote in the election process.

So! Post up with your name, who you are/what you do, what you're running for, how you want things to change/improve/remain the same/etc for the upcoming school year, and be ready to answer questions from errybody on this forum.

It's about that time of year where officer elections start getting discussed. Naturally, all of us aluMMni want to see who's running as we do get a vote in the election process.
