So Sahm, Alex, and I all went out to a Summit track day with N2 a few weeks back. We found out about them from one of their organizers at the International Motorcycle Show in DC. We linked up with him at the track and got talking about college students and track days. Robby really wants to help get kids off the street and onto the track to learn in a safe and controlled way how to ride and race a motorcycle. Essentially lining up directly with the goal of MM.

That brings me to the awesome news: bringing MM and N2 together to help make track days more accessible. There are lots of details, but know that this is an awesome deal for anyone interested in getting on track with their bike. If you’re interested in doing track days with N2, reach out to me and we can talk about the specifics. They have events up and down the east coast, as you can see on their website.

I can’t be more excited for this, as it’s taking something similar to our NASA partnership, and bringing it to all our current and hopefully future motorcycle riders.

Sahm and I are going to try and hit up their August 25th event at Summit. I you’re interested let me know and we can all go down as a group and hang out.

I've seen things go back and forth about the strength (rivet has hardly ever broke), but was curious what the experience here is for the link solution?

Well after about two months with the Shadow, I’m wanting something else. Dealing with a choppy, 30 year old, carbureted V-Twin engine can be cool, but doesn’t itch that scratch for me anymore. I rode Alex’s R6 on the Blue Ridge Parkway and I think that solidified my desire. So here’s where I’m torn:

I absolutely love the looks of super sports, the high end ludicrous speed, and full tuck position on them. BUT, I have a bad back and I’m not sure if riding one every day will irritate it to a point of needing to sell for the sake of my chiropractor bills.

I don’t love the looks of the 650’s I’ve seen, and not sure about the performance of them on the top end or at future track days. BUT, the riding position is way more comfortable going around down, although one I sat on didn’t feel like it was easy to really go full tuck which concerned me slightly.

So opinions on what y’all have done or would do? Anyone else deal with back issues (like legit spinal issues)? What path did you go down and did you regret one or the other? Help me out because as the title says, I’m young, dumb, and worst of all, an impulsive buyer

Riders of MM. In your "real world" applications what would you say is a fair estimate for mileage out of rear tire? I've had these Battlax BT-023s on the SV for 5k+ miles. They've seen daily commuting in DC for 3 months, 300+ mile trips on weekends, a trackday, and plenty of aggressive street riding.

I've notice for some time now the rear of the SV in turns (read: hard lean) feels "wiggly"? Tire pressure is always setup for manufacturer's spec, I've dumped the old shock and now have the ZX10r shock in the rear. I'm having a hard time distringuishing if it's me (riding position), road conditions, tires or a combo. I would say prior to Mayish the bike did not feel this way.

Is it possible due to the increased wear in the center of the tire from regular riding has produced a "ridge" which is where I feel the bike wiggling?

Time for a new tires? I'm thinking my next set will be more "sport" oriented.

Note: I don't feel the confidence to push the bike as hard I used to.

Was just mulling over the idea of selling the Ape and getting something new to tide me over until Honda gets its act together on the whole-V4-superbike-that-I-can-afford deal. I'd be using the bike pretty much the same way I do now, for commuting and track days.

I really wanted to check out the F3 when I got the Ape but there weren't any in stock nearby and I didn't feel like waiting. Now there's the F3 800 that shouldn't feel like I'm giving up too much power and is a gorgeous machine. I have to admit I kind of want another bike with a single-sided swingarm.

The R1 is kind of the logical choice if I want to stick with a 1000 cc supersport. I love how the crossplane-4 sounds, I really like the high spec equipment on the R1, and the traction control is supposedly really good. Certainly would be easier to get service on a R1 if I need it, and there are a lot of aftermarket parts. Could get it in the bumblebee paint scheme too.

The H2 is the ridiculous choice but just the same it would be cool to try something out that I can slap a pipe and chip on and have 240 horsepower. Because boost.

I'm doing a track day up at Summit Point the last Sunday of this month.

It's with http://www.motorcyclexcitement.com/ and costs $175 + $25 annual membership.

They have super light racing specs (good condition bike and leathers) and a perfect cancellation policy (even if you just don't want to go that day, pick any other day later). Rental leathers are $75 (act fast for those).
