How much does it weigh? I couldn't find any figures through googling. Not that its the end-all-be-all, but this thing lapped the Nordschleife in 7:41, 2 seconds off the latest 911 Turbo.

I'm confuzed...who's comparing a "stock GT hardtop" to a ZL1? I used that 'vert example cuz it has pretty pics, but google GT500 hardtops, they're still boats.

Ninja'd: If you mean to say that vert GT500's are 400lbs more than coupe GT500's, the 2011 coupe is curbed at 3820, the vert at 3952.

Yeah GT500's weigh about 4000 lbs. Supposedly the ZL1 will weigh about what the Camaro SS weighs, which is 3750. My guess is it'll probably weight around 3900-4000 lbs. Either way, it's got 50 more hp than the GT500 so it should match up well in performance.

Wink all the mustangs i've scaled... i dont believe curb weights at all. the verts are always more than the hard tops.

a stock hardtop GT500 is between 3800-3900lbs, the hardtop GTs are between 3700-3800

Umm, about that ----> 2013 GT500 to have 600 HP 5.8

And these rumored power figures (which are always low - the '07 GT500's were only supposed to have 475hp) are without DI, which is coming.

That is pretty ridiculous. I wonder how long this can continue before the government shuts this shit down? The ZL1 is out for this year..makes me wonder how much the further it can go since the ZR1 had what, 638HP?

When the GT500 came out with 550 this year I was kinda shocked, as most believed Ford wouldn't offer a Mustang with as much or more power than the FGT. Today's press release is just crazy, I guess all bets are off now.

The current rumor floating around is that when the all new car debuts for MY '14 the top dog car (don't know if it'll be a GT500 or Cobra) will have a TT five liter Coyote with direct injection.

ps, someone give me a co-drive in a boss mustang, those things look awesome in reviews and paper, I just dont understand why they arent "all that quick" at the track compared to much older m3s with way less horsepower. Hell, GTS3 e46/e36 m3s with way less horsepower to weight spanks em all day.

Are we talking street cars to race cars? Street cars with r-tires to race cars? Street cars with r-tires driven by people who race? Off the top, a guy doing HPDE's simply isn't going to be driving as hard as someone who is racing (at least he shouldn't be). Too many variables to really make a fair comparison.

All I know is that stock for stock a Mustang GT can hang with an E92 M3 on a race track :dunno:

AI Mustang VS GTS3 M3.

Basically same ruleset this year because of AI running on hoo hoos (toyo shortage allowed change in rules)

So same tire, aero, suspension allowance, cage, all very experienced racers......GTS3 M3s are faster than American Irons times with the s197s while the AI is allowed 9.5:1 power to weight, while GTS3 is allowed 11:1.....

lol cant compare HPDEs, but can compare similiarly prepped race cars on same tire compound, and allowed same aero and suspension. PS- That AI driver's times im comparing is Chris Cobetto, one of the best non-pro drivers in NASA winning 3 national Spec3 championships, and 2nd this year in American Iron.

And whats the point of whos faster on track stock for stock, when your on track with a stock car, its only HPDE, so again times dont matter, and its the driver.

PS- im not saying I like one or the other, I actually think the boss 302 mustang is way more badass and cooler than an e92 M3 anyday. Im just wondering why when prepped similiar but the boss has more hp/weight, is the mustang slower?

Does that infer that the e92 suspension tuning is horrible? The chassis stiffness? The aero package? Why does the boss mustang rule stock for stock, but then get it to the chin when prepped the same? That is what im asking.

Well DJ we were talking about street cars, then you start talking about race cars, wasn't sure what you were trying to compare.

From what I can see, Cobetto's Mustang should be a good bit faster. There was only one GTS3 car that put down a faster lap time than him at VIR in OktoberFast by a margin of about one second, so maybe Josh Smith is just a badass. Or it could be that in race trim the Mustang simply doesn't have the same handling potential as the M3. What are the tire widths allowed for GTS3 vs AI? I'd imagine AI isn't running skinny tires.
