ATTENTION: G-Force has changed its track
#1
Just got back form G-Force tonight and have some things to report.

First, the death of AIK Fred. means that all their new "gear" seems to now be at the Richmond location. Got to use some new fancy neck braces and saw a bunch of extra helmets in bags laying on the floor. There is also a van with a kart on top of it parked out front. Did not notice any additional karts.

Second, G-Force Richmond has decide to revamp their track. They are still in the process but have some spy reports I gathered tonight. Let me start with so far I am not pleased. The track is the same everywhere except off the back straight for now. After the turn it is just a giant emtpy space and a wall up to the small straight before the hairpin which remains the same. That was one of my favorite parts of the track becasue it would make or break many slower drivers.

I found that a little brake right before the turn off the straight to get the tires to bite a little more and then turn in nearly contacting the wall and cutting close onto the small straight going into the hairpin, then reverting to my original line through there but with alot more braking due to the speed you keep up to the hairpin. I was on the brakes longer than I have ever been on that track before. And it wasn't becasue I was going slow because although all times were reset today because its the first day of the new track, I nailed down a 25.585 securing FTD beating out some people who I have seen there before and ran faster than me before also.

I asked the girl working who usually knows her shit about the new SK qualifying time and it has not been set yet meaning my 9 under 26 laps go for nothing and I feel it will be set to 27 or 26 anyways. I also asker her if the track was staying like this and she said the new turn is but they also plan to add a "bubble" on the straight. I'm assuming she means some type of chicane which is why I think the time will only drop to 27.

I wish FTD would have secured the SK affixed to my name but unfortunatley no, so I will wait until the time is set and then try again, of course this means within the school year, so perhaps an MM field trip aside from our Kart enduro.

did they say why they changed it? and this is running the normal clockwise direction right?

i liked the way the old layout was where you came off the back straight as well. if you got it right you could really make up time.

Why do you want the SK by your name? I "qualified" for the SKs and drove em, I actually preferred the regular karts. Its like an American Iron car vs a Spec Miata. Which one is more fun to you determines which you would like. I liked the lighter, more tossable one.

No word on why they changed and are changing it. Maybe due to the death of AIK Fred. It still runs normal direction for normal races.

I know exaclty what you mean as that was probably my favorite section becasue of how fast I could catch people if I got it right. that is the spot i would usually comment to myself, "damn, I got that one right that time. This will be a good lap."

The new turn there just looks like a waste of space from being so openned and is too fast and easy to get through with no real turns. yes you have to enter it right but I worked on my lines for many races on that old track and this new one, I had that turn by the second race. Not saying that I couldn't get it better because I know I can, but its just not a fun turn and in traffic, its definatley not the seperator that the last one was. I could easily out drive more inexperienced drivers in that turn when I got it right, but the new way, you can get it totally wrong and still be ok becasue of how wide it is and how the "real" race line has to cut right through where people who are messing it up come out. It might be hard to picture what I am describing but they exit there shitty line right into your good line going into the Hairpin. Not only do they exit it, but they can easily and most of the time with my experiences tonight the bad line and good line are similar but one is way slower and the slower line will destroy the faster line if there is anyone even remotley near any part of that turn. There is nothing to take the inside of. This complaint may be a good thing to help you pass in bad situations but usually it just got annoying becasue it took no real skill once inside the giant abyss of track thats between the hairpin and turn 5 from the pits i tihnk it is off the straight.

BTW, I did 4 races tonight with one being in complete amatuer traffic, the second was a mix of horrible drivers, fast drivers, and some amatuer traffic, the third, my friend who uses my lines now after watching me can run similar to me on my warmup laps/races started in front of me destroying some of race but after a quick bump in turn one i experienced some dick who put me sideways every time i went to pass and normal race traffic. The last was 3 other people including the douche who rammed my kart due to his frustration of being inexperienced, my firend and the douche's friend. The emptyness on the last race really helped me practice different approaches although i lapped the douche twice.

Finished:
Race 1: 2nd but had a better average than 1st place and an extra lap on first place but he had a G-force badge on so I guess he wins right :dunno:
Race 2: 2nd again with a better avg
Race 3: 2nd with worse avg becasue (I know I know, excuses) but my kart was poorly setup as far as where my seat had to be for my legs not to hit the steering wheel casuing horrible handling.
Race 4: 1st with better avg by .7 and FTD

Number of racers in each to fully roundout this diagnostic
Race 1: 9
Race 2: 10
Race 3: 7
Race 4: 4

True DJ, but I have been fighting for that SK since my first time ever at G-Force long before MM and when I finally get fast, they change it on me and don't give me the new time to beat so I can't even try right now. Will I run superkarts often, probably not as I tihnk the new normal karts are stupid fun.
