Did a little spirited driving out of my neighborhood to merge into traffic, went first and into second but when I went into second, revs stayed high and then the trans kicked itself into neutral with a loud pop. My shifter bushings are shot and I plan to replace them but could this be my trans syncros or something actin up. My trans occasionally acts like I didn't shift gears if I'm pushing the car like the revs stay high and no noticable drop for the new gear.

Does the shifter feel sloppy in neutral and other gears?
These cars can just be a little finicky. My car occasionally likes to spit 3rd out on a redline shift, but it hasn't really happened lately. Honestly it might just take a little getting used to shifting quickly in the car. You still have to guide it into gear, you can't just throw it.
If it feels notchy in all gears change the fluid before you do anything else, it makes a huge difference.

My shifter is definatley sloppy, I plan to due trans mounts, all shifter internals, a dssr, and a fluid change to a highly reviewed fluid from pelican before I give up on the trans...I don't think its that bad but just wanted to get some opinions.

I havn't ordered anything yet but was planning on going with Swepco 201 for the trans. Pelican says its THE fluid of fluids for our trans.

Did replacing the mount and tighting up the shifter help any? Does it pop out of gear any other times? does it scrap going in gear? what does the shifter do while in gear giving it gas and letting off the gas? Does the shifter move ? Does it feels as though the shiter is moving towards neutral or trying to pull harder into gear?

Idk, ill let you know once the rest of my parts show up and I swap everything out...hasn't happened again, but shifter grinds occasionally mainly due to the sloppiness I believe.
