So as some of you know, my seats are jacked up thanks to 165k and 16 years of no love or maintenance whatsoever. I attempted to refinish them myself when I first got the car, but my patching/filling skills werent really up to snuff, so they looked great for about... 3 days. Checkit:

Now they look like this again, but worse.

You BMW people know its a pain in the ass to find black vaders for less than $800-1k (and you have to find the listing when its about 10 minutes old or you're too late) because everyone wants them and puts them into E30s and non-M e36s. You can buy nice Dove gray ones all day everyday but that might look a little funky with the yellow.

So anyway, I'm looking for a really good upholstery shop somewhere in the area that can take my seats and properly refinish them so that they'll hold up. The driver's one could even use a little foam work. I know I'll pay out the butt for it, but If I buy another set of black vaders I'm going to get hosed anyway.

I gave a thought to fixing a tear in my drivers seat and did some researching of local places. Apparently this place is pretty much the balls if you're in this area:

Oh yeah, please do, gotta shop around. Smile I'm going to swing by that shop on Saturday and get a quote to see what they say. I'm honestly expecting $400-700. But a pair of black ones would cost me a grand. If I was gonna spend that much I'd get some folding back tuner seats, but the vaders are so classic and fit the car so well.

Kings Upholstery in roanoke is where you want to go. I got my Monte Carlo done there, and I think that's where the hot rodders and such go. I supplied the seat covers, and they did the seats, door panels, and rear panels for 700$ I think, and that including rebuilding the foam and springs in the seats

Edit: just noticed you said nova, even though your profile says bedford

I used to work for Ed Woldford Hotrod Upholstery in Cburg- He could do an awesome job on those seats, but he is not cheap.

I would suggest looking into having the seats fully custom covered, instead of buying pre-made covers- Covers can look great and all, but it honestly normally wont be much more to get custom stuff made, then you can pick the exact fabrics/color you want...

Kings is that place over in the hood by the salvation army right? Near downtown? We used to take cars there when I worked at Martins. Yeah, id go there if I was home, but oh well.

Lim's quoted me $2150 to do both seats. So, no. He told me that filling and refinishing would only yield the same results I got. I'm still not broken hearted though, I think someone willing to do it that way could replace only the worst part of the leather, rebuild some of the foam, and fill and refinish both of them. If I could find someone in the $600-700 range I'll probably do it eventually.

I dont even know if you can get pre made covers for vaders, but my plan was to just have them redone OEM style. I think it'd be sweet to have suede headrests and bolsters and leather centers, but the suede would hold up really poorly, so OEM style.

Yet another option that just occurred to me that may be worth trying. Is order another repair kit, buy some foam and really go full commitment on a repair. My dad and I were rushed to get it done over a weekend so I could drive to work on monday, but If I really took the seat apart and went crazy on them, doing several coats of filler allowing like 24 hours between coats, had the foam repaired so the leather wasn't loose over the backing, and allowed them to cure all the way before sitting in them, I might get way better results. That would only be like $150.
