Why mobile?

I've used one before, but I can't remember the name and Google is failing me.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I've used the detailing services at those uber-washer places like Suds, Dr Wash, etc. Most do a surprisingly good job and they gotta be cheaper then mobile.

I am not sure if you are looking to correct a specific problem or are just looking for a generic detail, or selling car or what. If you want a generic detail, or your car is gray or white, just pick from the best of yelp and call it done.

If you are looking to correct a specific problem or are looking for some crazy correction on a dark color car, maybe look around the autopia forums: http://www.autopia.org/forum/mid-atlantic-usa/ These guys seem to have a general love for detailing and like to experiment with different products to make things work. If you want I can get you the information for the guy I used over there. He is good but expensive, but I am going to keep my car a long time.

I would be weary of taking detail advice off yelp. It's hard to say what those people's expectations were and what they think a clean car should look like e.g. using products with a lot of filler to make a car look good temporarily or whatever. It's all subjective. Just sayin', but it really all depends on what you're looking for.

Confusedhock: That's insane. Shit it'd be worth your gas money to drive down here and have one of any number of detail shops do it for $70. I had the vette washed, buffed, waxed, interior done, wheels removed and polished and top cleaned for $90...and that was the higher price of the two quotes.

Time is money, though. The point of paying someone else is so you don't have to waste your own time.

I've never done the full-on detail, including shampooing seats and whatnot, so I couldn't see paying $170. IMO, just getting the inside and outside for $110 is more than enough if you didn't slaughter a pig in your vehicle.

* foaming pre-soak
* high pressure cleansing
* tire clean
* high pressure wheel blasters
* drying agent
* spot free rinse
* air cannon dry and hand dry
* hand wax
* vacuum carpet
* interior glass cleaning
* complete dressing of all plastic
* shampoo mats (4pc)

Yeah I looked into someone detailing the M before the car show, but once I saw the price, I said the melted rubber all over the car added character.

The big thing I was going for here was the carpet/rug cleaning and interior cleaning, its just not something I either have the tools or products to really handle myself and I have never had very good luck making a trashed interior look nice. The plan is to do this as a gift for the lady friend, her birthday is next week (shut up, Chris). She lives out of her car during the week for her job and rides mountain bikes - you can guess what it looks like.

I thought about having the interior done professionally, and knocking out the outside myself since I'm reasonably proficient there. I'd probably have to take an afternoon off of work to do that one, time is money, and NoVa time is NoVa money.
