CA Superbike School, VIR, May 16th

I'm signed up for Level 3, and a friend of mine from Charlottesville is doing Level 1.

Anyone else interested? They're using BMW S1000RRs as school bikes, which seems like too much fun to pass up.

I considered it, but didn't want to waste a day of vacation. At this point, I'm thinking Labor Day at VIR.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I think I'm down, just have to make sure I can get the time off because I'll be at a conference the week before and we have a big release right around that time. I may just work extra hours to be able to comp the time so I don't have to use leave.

Roommate is picking up a 600RR today and said he was interested so I'll let him know too.

I'll sign up maybe about mid-month once I've taken care all of the expenses associated with Sebring. Hopefully I'll be able to get a slot to ride my own bike but I wouldn't be heartbroken if I had to ride a S1000RR... My roommate wants to do it too, I'll find out when he plans on signing up.

If you're considering riding your own bike you might want to put down your deposit sooner than later because those spots fill up first.

Do you know anyone trying to get rid of leathers? - I've been looking around on the 13x forums, and other various honda forums looking for a race suit, but haven't had any luck yet....I'd rather just purchase a cheap used set than pay to rent leathers. Also, is there anything that you have to do to prep the bike prior to attending the class?

I got my suit off ebay so maybe you'll have more luck there. As far as prep, just fill the radiator with water, tape up the lights, remove the mirrors, and you should be ready to go.

Definitely Level 1, you'll learn a ton. I don't think they'll let you do the levels out of order anyway.

If you've never done a CA Superbike school, do Level 1.

I tried getting on my bike yesterday morning (it was a really nice day to commute in on the bike), to find my bike has a flat rear tire. I found the hole, and it is quite large, and IÔÇÖve read that itÔÇÖs not wise to patch bike tires (all that I have are rope patches).

Anyways, after speaking to the rep at Coleman Powersports, and explaining to him that I am interested in doing a track day and/or bike school this summer, he stated that it is not recommended to ride on two different types of tires. I would really prefer to only purchase one new tire, but I wanted to get some feedback before making my final decision. Also, if anyone has equipment to change/balance bike tires, I would much rather pay a smaller fee for tool use, than to pay the $40 dollars a tire that Coleman wants to charge if I bring my wheels in (off the bike).

Any insight regarding the two different tire issue, or if anyone has tire changing equipment would be greatly appreciated.

On another note, I received my first set of leathers last week, purchased for $250 off a guy on the 13x forums, so once I get my bike up to working order, Ill be fully prepared to sign up for the super bike school in Augustsince apparently the one in May is full.

If you wanna sign up for August do so now. It might already be waitlisted if you wanna ride your own bike. It is for Level 3.

As for the tire, post on DCSportbikes.net to see if anyone has a tire mounter or maybe 600RR.net.
