Hey so I'm posting this for a friend, good kid and from what i've seen keeps really his cars in great condition:

1990 mazda miata with a 1996 miata motor
64k on motor 194k on body

Maintenance done around 50k miles (motor miles)

-Swap, 1.8l from 1996
-GC coils
-Koni yellows
-Timing belt
-Timing belt tensioner
-Waterpump
-Clutch
-Flywheel
-Pressure Plate
-Master Cylinder
-Slave Cylinder
-Passenger rear caliper
-New pads, caliper clips, and caliper springs all the way around
-Alternator
-Brake fluid flushed
-Caliper slides and pins replaced and all calipers greased
-Tranny and diff fluid changed
-New Plugs and wires
-Rolled fenders

Other info:

Oil changed every 3k miles. 0w40 mobile 1 synthetic, purolator pure one Mellinia v6 filter
Corrected timing job from previous owner and set to +14 degrees timing (stock is +10)
Inspected
Top doesn't really leak, small holes from where it rubs top frame
Replaced broken interior panels, including drivers side arm rest. All panels are there and intact.
New tires 205/50/R15, right around 1,000 miles on them.
New radiator and cap, right around 1,000 miles on them.

As of right now, the radiator fan is wired to a switch. The thermoswitch needs to be replaced for it to work off of engine temp. And it also needs gaskets between the throttle body/adapter and adapter/intake manifold. Without those there it causes some fluctuation in the idle as well as low idle.

Car has given me no real problems in the 10,000+ miles i have put on it. I drive the car every day 50+ miles and i get around 27 to the gallon, but i spend more time at 7,000 revs that an S2k driver. The car has been well taken care of by me, and i have been really anal about keeping it running proper and fixing problems as soon as they arise or i have done preventative maintenance.

I'd want to see pix but some questions that Miata.net would ask before making a blanket statement that it's overpriced:

1. Why the motor swap?
2. Is the top/back window original or has it been replaced - and is the replacement vinyl or cloth, plastic or glass window?
3. Why the use of that oil and filter?
4. Any reason for rolling the fenders - 205s will easily fit under stock fenders (that's what I have) with no rolling.
5. What color?

The way the car sits now - and assuming it's uber clean for 194k (which I kinda doubt) - I would offer like $2,500 at most. You can get a clean, all-original and year-correct Miata of the 1990 OR 1996 variety (i.e. either 1.6 or 1.8 motor) for $3,800, and that's for average (~100k) miles.

w/ it being a '90, my off hand guess is that the motor swap was done because of a SNC issue....

well I guess that explains the fender rolling question

not quite sure why someone would have a problem with the oil/filter he was using though..... :dunno:

Because most Miata.net members are stuffy old men and the viscosity of oil and type of filter (for a Millennia?) are different from stock specs.

I read on m.net somewhere that the Millennia filters are the same for the Miata but cheaper and/or easier to buy in bulk or something like that...
