Urgent: HALP! needed in N.Va

Hey all:

My brother and I are trying to get to Dulles for a flight today to join family in California for Christmas. We're at his apt. in the Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington and even though the roads are decent we're pretty much stuck: metro/buses are down, and taxis aren't running (we've called all the numbers we've found).

If ANYONE is able and willing to give us a ride, we'll bless you with 50 bucks and wishes of a jolly season. We'd need to leave here by 2pm ideally for our flight departing just after 4:20.

S'all good man, I appreciate it, believe me if I had any comfort in the idea that the Miata could make it I'd drive. It's doable out there but I wouldn't want anyone with anything less than AWD cause the last thing I'd want is to get you or anyone else stuck too. It's basically too late now so we're looking into later flights :? I need a goddamn truck.

I guess I am seeing this too late BUT the highways are completely clear.

Yeah...even if we were leaving here right now we'd be getting to Dulles right at our boarding time. Just sucks...the roads looked OK this morning and yet not even the Flyer taxis from the airport itself were operating. No idea how many other people are stranded/missed their flights.

I went over to my folks place earlier and there were tons of airport taxis out... are the flights even on time?

Girl on the phone at Wash. Flyer service said they weren't running them till this evening at the earliest (past our flight time which is/was on time), so maybe she lied. Shitty situation all around...I tried perhaps a dozen different cab companies, all with no answer/service.

Thanks, but it looks like the next DC -> Cali flight/route (on United...they are giving travel waivers for those stuck in the storm), isn't until Wednesday, which is ridiculous. Its what we've accepted so far but we're still haggling with them

flights are wayyyyy delayed. my mom was supposed to be here 4 hours ago, but they aren't supposed to leave until 9 pm....

Kind of a relieving update on this FML situation, the flight we were trying to get to departing at 4:23pm to Denver is still at Dulles....buuuut even if we got on it, we would've missed our Denver - Cali flight resulting in our being stuck in Denver for two days. Soooo we'll just count our blessings we didn't go through all the trouble to get stuck on the tarmac for five hours only to be trapped in an airport in Colorado for 2 days :?

Sorry buddy, was up skiing when you called, the ML430 was making quick work of anything. I was surprised. And the SC400 actually did pretty well in the snow, until the cops told us to "get the hell out of here". lol.

your failed.. you have both pauls and my number. we were out tearing up the streets friday night-sunday night all day. Wouldnt have been an issue to get you to an airport for free

Thanks all, good to know the help is there...I pretty much panicked and forgot half of you :lol: but like I said thank god we didn't actually go to the airport. I'm here now, caught a break and got a direct flight yesterday.
