November 1 - BRR Autocross in Salem

Just posting to gauge interest...

The Blue Ridge Region SCCA is hosting their final event at the Salem Civic Center on November 1. Yep, the day after Halloween...

Anyway, I'm tentatively interested in going and didn't know who else would go, if anyone.

Looks like I will probably have work off that day-- who has run at Salem? How is the lot? Worth the drive?

I haven't been down there before. According to Joey it's a HUGE lot - he's not sure how much they'll be using (all, maybe?) and the configuration.

Chris (my co-driver from Verona) and I are both in. Just gotta register now...

The lot is nice, its not massive, but the only problem I had with it years ago when I went was I didnt like the course setup.

I am tentatively in, I will be down for halloween weekend, just not sure I can wake up from the previous night's drinking. Altho ive done a WDCR-SCCA autocross on 45 minutes of sleep from drinknig the night before. I sucked miserably.

Yea the lot is ok. Maybe a little bit more than half of Verona. They always have really techincal confusing courses there for some reason too it seems. I might be up for it too if I don't hate my life from Halloween festivities that next day

I'm in for this as well, however chances are I will not have my integra here so I would just be interested in riding along and maybe being a co-driver.

I ran that kind of question about course design on the scca board and the guy who's doing the event is really cool and promised it would lack confusing crossovers. But,for anyone who goes, WALK WALK WALK the course, you can fiddle with the car later because of the slight elevation change in the center of the lot it's good to have to course memorized because looking a turn or two ahead might not be enough.
I'll be there too...depending on Halloween festivities as well.

Okay you alcoholics, I live in Bedford, which is like 45 minutes from this autocross.

I'm planning on going home Friday afternoon, using Saturday to change my oil, bleed my brakes for Summit the following weekend, and do a few other things with the car since I'll have the advantage of a full garage with a level floor. Then I'm going to leave for the event from my house Sunday morning and save myself the trouble of waking up quite as early, and drive back to school that night.

For those of you willing to give up getting completely bombed on Halloween for the greater good of motorsports, I have a huge house with lots of comfy floor space, and could probably house a half dozen of you on Saturday night to break the trip up some, as long as you don't smell to bad.

Just let me know if you're interested so I can warn my poor mother. Big Grin

We have had some convoluted courses there, but as David said the course designers have promised a fun easy to follow course.

Yeah the weather is oddly warm for the last autocross, I ran there once when it was about 20* and the miata was a drift machine on my 14" falkens.
I'll be there...extra points if I show up in my Mario Kart getup from the night before?

Luigi would be perfect since you're about a foot taller than me.

BTW Ray extended Registration through 6pm tonight (Oct 30th) so if you're still on the fence , save yourself about five bucks and pre-register just in case.

The costume all depends on if I can get out to WalMart or somewhere before then. No promises...
