Bike day w/ TPM @ VIR 9/13, Cookout on 12th!
#1
Alright, here's another opportunity for any first timers. Or just a fun/easy party weekend for the seasoned. TPM @ VIR Patriot on Sunday and cookout & crash at my house the evening beforehand. AND if there is interest, I'm also considering monday on North course. We'll see. If you're a first timer, $199 with no membership fee gets you rental leathers and in-class instruction with the day.

Anyone in? Come just for the RB&V or for the track day, or both! I can sleep maybe 4 or 5 here without Jess demanding some sort of sacrifice.

I am in. What make/model of mammal will be sacrificed during the cook out to assure our track-day domination?

Monday on VIR North is damn tempting too... I love me some Stevie Wonders 8)

Realllllly tempting

Would you say track plastics are a good idea? Or is OEM fine for this kind of track day?

well, I hate to bring it up, but this is what happened to a friend last time I went to Patriot with TPM:

<!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8462&p=173605">viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8462&p=173605</a><!-- l -->

so BEFORE, I might have said, hey, first time, you'll be going slow, and if you feel comfortable with your bike and have a good head on your shoulders, then you should be fine.

But, you could still get punted. Sad And without mirrors, there's only so much you can do to avoid it. So, I guess I have to stick to the old, "if you aren't prepared to write it off, you shouldn't track it" answer. So I guess plastics would help.

I think there's a FREE "try the track" thing that TPM does during lunch. It's like, fast touring laps, no passing.... but, you won't really learn anything. If you can't stand the thought (or cost) of your bike being totaled, then you can ride mine for that. Heck, if I had gotten signed off for intermediate, I'd let you track mine in beginner, but no such luck. :dunno:

Hmmm yea see that was my thought. I figured I would be going slow in a beginner group and so only so much could happen but that story shows how easy it can happen.

Looks like track plastics at least but I might just shop for a cheaper bike for track that if does get totaled I won't be hating my life. When would I have to sign up by? I need to see how the funds are looking.

I dunno, maybe I'd be down to go if I can ride RJ's SV or something.

Today is probably the last day to sign up discounted as a member, though I think the $200 for newbies still stands.

If anyone just wants to spectate/hang out, lunch time spirited touring laps are available:

Sounds like not much interest so far.... so if it's just a couple of us, we might just join a coworker's pig roast at Smith Mt Lake in the afternoon. Should be fun.

so... I guess just John then. Fine, more RB&V for us! Tongue

North course is gonna be interesting..... I got new tires and everything to increase my chances of winning.

oh you just had to post that pic. Maybe if my body position didn't suck so bad you wouldn't be lapping me YET AGAIN.

And that wasn't really a crash, you were just trying to ride your bike to the moon somehow
