I know all of you know about this bike, but I'm bored and didn't know if you wanted to talk about it.



Apparently, the pricing has been released:

...but a local dealer is now taking deposits for January delivery, locking in pricing at the MSRP of $13,800; $801 more than the Honda.

Options:
Race ABS (excluding DTC): $1,000.00
Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) Combined: $1,480.00
Gear Shift Assistant: $ 450.00
Anti Theft Alarm: $ 395.00
Motorsports Paint Scheme: $ 750.00

And so a base price of 13,800 doesn't seem that bad to me. Even optioned out, it's cheaper than the Ducati 1198 which retails for like $16,500

I know alot of you guys think it's ugly, but I don't think it's so bad.


And 193 Horsepower is nothing to shake a stick at either. I think the firebrade makes 180?

Not that I'll ever throw a leg over either of them, but I'm bored. So sue me.

obviously i have no idea how it rides, but i think the looks of the fireblade and the 1198 are much better than this

The Gear Shift Assist is to allow full throttle upshifts.

yes basically its a quickshifter... usually an aftermarket add on, and may still need one if its tuned with a certain ECU.

hmm.. i've never had a problem mashing it up at near WOT, but i guess it could be an issue with more torque

But you still have to roll off the throttle a little. Quick shifter kills the ignition and just tap the lever, no roll off - its nice to have.

I think the price is fantastic. For about $16,500 you get TC and ABS and more power than the base 1198. You'd have to get the 1198S to get the RC and no ABS.

I got a chance to check out out at Monza and it feels like it's about GSXR sized with similar ergonomics. I wish I had followed up with the BMW PR people I talked to at Monza but I'm sure I'll get to ride one sooner or later.

I don't mind the looks but I do dislike the pukey green/yellow. Tell you what, it looks better than a stock R1 IMO.
