What questions should I ask?
What do I need to know?

Asking price is 1500. Talk me out of it.

Is that a picture OF the bike? Looks good if so.

Here's a guide that may or may not be helpful for evaluating a used bike:

So, it's pretty rough cosmetically. Mechanically, it seems like it's in great shape, but there's shit duck taped and the paint is a messy rattlecan job. $1500 or not, I need a bike that's been cared for. The hunt continues... and RJ.. I would LOVE for you to come look with me at the next one :-)

I would say run away from it, but those old things are not terribly easy to find, in great shape or not.

$1500 is probably too much $$ for that one, unless the mechanical condition was really good AND it had the original exhaust pipes in good shape.

No matter what you find, after 35 years, its going to need a little attention here and there so be ready to turn some wrenches, clean and sync carbs and toss some new tires on it Smile
