Barrett-Jackson on Speed

So I was being lazy today and watched some of it and was pleasantly surprised at the sale prices. Looks like the stratospheric values on old school muscle are finally coming down to within reach of the "regular" enthusiast. Anyone else catch any of the auction?

Yeah I've been watching some of it. The prices definitely seem more tame so far than last year.

It's because everyone is worth 40% less than they were a year ago.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

That and Barrett-Jackson overinflated the market to begin with. Friend of mine's father works with Russell Jackson to insure the cars and has nothing good to say about him and his scrupulous business practices.. Funny this come up today - I was on a ride with said friend today, and when we got back, his father called to laugh about how they couldn't give away the cars at auction today. If you are really in a market for a classic car, you don't want to go to Barrett-Jackson unless you have money to waste and/or are uninformed. There are plenty of other genuine classics brokers/auction houses that have always commanded 30-50% less for the same vehicle (and minus the 10% buyers fee too).
