SPT Cat Back- 2002-07 WRX/STi

Since we actually have quite a few Subaru guys now I figured I would put this up on here. This is the SPT catback made by Bosal for Subaru. It has 3" piping with 2.5" taper to where it connects to the downpipe and has a 3.5" tip. The flange on the mid pipe has been completely welded all the way around so you can run either a stock dp or a 3" aftermarket dp with no leaking issues. Sounds nice and deep and doesn't drone on the highway. Includes a used gasket, all hardware, and the SPT brochure that says it's street legal!

This is more of an informative question, so don't take me as hating on you:

-what purpose does a 3" pipe exhaust do when you have a 2.5" bottleneck at the downpipe? Your total exhaust flow is only equal to the smallest point in the exhuast and anything after that is a moot point.

-If somebody buys this, cut off that flange and make it a 3" and you'll have a proper 3" exhaust with larger gains and less lag.

I completely understand this point. This is what I am doing with my new cat back this week actually just to make it a true 3" all the way through. I do think though, at my power level, a half inch bottle neck will hardly hinder lag or power but every little bit helps. Once you start getting up in the 400-500hp range like Lee's monster, that half inch could really restrict things.

The reasoning actually makes sense though. This is a Subaru exhaust that is sold at dealerships, etc so it's actually designed to mate up to the stock downpipe with a donut gasket, which is either 2.25 or 2.5" because a lot people just want the cat back for sound and want to keep all the cats, and their warranty in tact at the same time.

Cutting off the flange though is a good option and will not hurt my feelings at all :lol:

The SPT is a nice unit, Bosal makes some good stuff. Good luck in the sale! Someone on NASIOC will probably snatch it up quick because it's a nice civilized exhaust.

It really is a nice piece. It served me well for almost a year but I found an amazing deal on the highly sought after Cobb catback that I couldn't pass up.

Somebody already offered 325 on Nasioc so it's pending unless somebody on here really wants it
