Hahahaha - that's great. Definitely the coolest "save" I've ever seen!

Rob, all a motorcycle wants to do, sans rider, is continue on in a straight line. The rider just gets in the way. Since the bike never made it off it's tires it just righted and continued on it's way.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

I really question whether that video is real. It looks like he just falls off for not apparent reason and then as for added effect, the riders behind him choose to weave between him and the bike. Also, is it common for people to point the camera at themselves?

The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I don't know about the validity of the video, but it's not uncommon to point the camera at yourself. It can help with sight and form problems.... and it's just a different way to be narcissistic for some people Smile

i dunno... seems like the bike is moving far too slowly for any gyroscopic effect.

It's certianly possible at that speed.... but I'm not 100% convinced either. I mean, for him to get back up and catch it that fast.... it would have to be going like 5 MPH. For a while. I hope my bike does that next time I fall off!

Well, uh, it's obvsiouly staying upright without it's rider. It doesn't take much speed at all for the effect to work.

For the sake of argument, lets say that was a second gear turn. A 600 spinning at the upper ends of the tach will come down real quick when the throttle is shut - there's very little flywheel effect. Between scrubbing off speed falling off, and shutting the throttle, I think it's possible.

I've got no real opinion on the video other than: it was entertaining Smile

He also did a helluva job hopping on without the bike having any significant lean as a result. It was like he jumped in the air and landed on it without using pegs or anything.

I still can't get over the fact that he just seemed to let go and fall off.

Iunno... it's definitely cool but you'd be hard pressed to convince me it happened as it's presented.

Rex made a good point in independent discussion of the vid (which applies to the precession [gyroscopic] effect as well as Chris' statement about it not leaning when he jumped on):

Stunters do a whole lot more going a lot slower.
