Mini Baja Project Openings

I'm a volunteer at the JMU Alternative Fuels Vehicle Lab. We have an opportunity for some students that I think would be awesome for some MM guys or gals.

This is the last year for this project. It has to be done this year, so if you get involved, you'll see it thorugh to some fun, thrashing times in the mud and rocks!



For info on Mini Baja, check out the webpage. (the site is under construction but that page is done)

The frame is done for the project. We have an engine, transmission, and some suspension stuff. The project did not progress much last year and since this is the last year for it, we need some new blood and fresh energy, as such, it's an awesome opportunity for you.

If you are interested, here's what I recommend.

• 1. Shoot an email to Chris Bachman, <!-- e --><a href="mailto:bachmacg@jmu.edu">bachmacg@jmu.edu</a><!-- e -->, and just let him know that you're an interested MM person. He's already expecting some interest from MM.
  
  2. Make every effort to come to safety training on Monday at the AFV Lab on S. Main st. this will allow you to hit the ground running.
  
  3. Come to the Mini Baja meeting on Wednesday at 6:00 at the AFV lab, and we'll dig in and get dirty!
  

While I am not the project adviser for this project, I will be at the lab working on some other projects and I am sure I'll help with the Mini Baja from time to time.

Don't be skeered! It is an awesome opportunity to be involved in a cool project. I'll be there and if you say you're from MM you'll be especially welcomed and I'll make sure you get up to speed very fast.

A quick followup, if it is completed, you will have the invitation to go to the competition, possibly drive, etc. We aren't setting out to win. In all honesty if we make it, pass tech, and actually compete, it's a glowing success.

Yeah, me too. We just got everything organized at a breakfast meeting this morning though .

Yes, this coming Monday and Wednesday. Even if they can't make the Monday training they can still come out to the Wednesday meeting, just can't get as dirty.

The lab is located on South 11 across from the Wendy's and El Charro's. Turn and go up the little road, across the tracks, through the gate, and it is the first building on your left. I think you have to park before the gate actually.

Tell Chris you're from MM.
