My trip to Los Angeles
#1
Here is a little thing I wrote up

I just returned from Los Angeles(July 28), and now I see that they are having an earthquake today. Andrea and I went with Fran and Becky, and we stayed in Marina del Rey. It was a perfect location for us to see things in the South Bay as well as the North Bay. We were very fortunate to have things fall into place so well. We got to see sunset at Laguna Beach, we were there for the X-Files premiere and we got to see Heidi and Spencer from the Hills show. I also got to see the actual Real World Hollywood house and the bars that they went to while they were on the show.

We were walking distance from Venice Beach and it sure was a beautiful thing to see on the first day. Our first lunch was at Islands right on Washington Boulevard. It was really good, and I was surprised that the burgers didnÔÇÖt even include French fries. We also took a lot of pictures on Venice Beach, and it was really cool to finally put my feet in the Pacific Ocean. It was cool and we also spent a few hours on the beach.

The next day, 23 July, we went into Hollywood, and it sure was interesting to see. We saw the famous Chinese MannÔÇÖs Theatre right on Hollywood Boulevard. We had paid 10$ to park so we tried to make the best of it. I actually ended up walking to the Real World Hollywood house and it took a while to get there. Everyone else wanted to be right on the red carpet.

We were also there for the X Files premiere, and we got to see David Duchonvy and Gillian Anderson. I didnÔÇÖt see them actually everyone else did. We then took a tour and saw the celebrity houses. We went to the Hollywood Hills, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills. It was cool to see some of the stars houses, and all of the ridiculous cars there. The next day on the 24th of July we went to Universal Studios and made a day of it. It was a little amusement park in a studio area. We saw the actual set that they use for Desperate Housewives and the cars from Back to the Future. The Simpsons ride that we went on was fun too. Our money went pretty far at the Chinese food place at the park, we got a souvenir drinking container for 7 bucks and we would refill it.

On the 25th we saw like 7 some beaches. Started at Manhattan beach, then Hermosa, Redondo, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, and then beautiful Laguna Beach. On Saturday, 26 July I got to visit UCLA, and tried to find a souvenir for Becky to buy. We got to find it, and then she got to see the Real World House that she wanted to see. That night we went to Avalon, which is a club in Hollywood. That was crazy, and we hit up McdonaldÔÇÖs after that, which really hit the spot, because we had been hungry all day.

On the 27th, Sunday, we went up to the North Bay and saw Malibu and Santa Monica. We got to eat at Jack In The Box right on the Pacific Coast Highway. We were so lucky to find free parking in Malibu and Santa Monica. Fran worked that parallel parking thing to the max. I didnÔÇÖt realize how big of an issue parking was in LA. I knew it was expensive, but I didnÔÇÖt realize how important it was to save money by parallel park. On the 28th we woke up at around 7am, and got ready to leave L.A. It took us more time than it should of, but it was painless giving the car back to the rental car place. It came out to 324.71$ for the week. Which was about 81$ per person. Which was a damn good deal. Overall it was great to go to L.A. with Fran and Becky.

There were indeed times where there was some issues, but we got over them easily. Choosing Virgin America for our flight was a great decision. The airline kept us entertained, and it was great.

We traveled with our married friends, so we had to compromise. Which was fine. I just wanted to go to Dodger Stadium, but it was all good, because the Nats got swept when we were there.

Hollywood is pretty trashy isn't it? I think it's quite possibly the most overrated place on the face of the planet.

Laguna is always nice to visit, however, I prefer Newport more...

And isn't Virgin America money?
