tint question
#1
My cars going to get tint installed tomorrow. Im currently in MD and I was going to get 35%. After having to jump through hoops to pass inspection, Im worried that my inspector will make me take it off next year. Can any of you guys tell me if you can get away with 35% tint? Can you recommend a place to get your car inspected where they wont fail it over the smallest infraction? I dont want to pay for tint if Im just going to have to rip it off next year. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is the car registered in MD? If so, 35% total is legal...

No its registered in VA where we are in the process of moving. Im just curious how strict VA is about tint. I mean 35% isnt exactly limo tint :? Should I just be safe and get 50%? What do you guys have?

Its 50% but I was curious from people who live in VA how strict they are about tint. If im going to get hassled, Ill just have to suck it up and go with 50%

I used to have 35% in the rear and 50% on my fronts in my old WRX and I was never hassled... I thought that was the legal limit in VA for the front and rear. My STi was 20 all around I think and I didn't get hassled with that either. Tint it how you want and find an inspector who doesn't care. Inspections were the least of my car worries when I was in VA

That it is... and I'm pretty sure they can't fail you anyway if you're under the legal limit. Some time ago the responsibility was shifted to State Police from state inspectors so you can get a ticket but won't fail inspection.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Legal limit in VA is 50 sides 35 rear.
I just got the legal limit and it sucked. Go for the 35 all around, my friend has that on his mustang and has passed inspection twice

Got the 35 all the way around. Still isnt dark enough for me but I dont want to give the police any more of a reason to pull me over. (and find my smoked headlights/ o/r exhaust). That could be a pretty ticket. Anyways, time to start saving for FI. Thanks again for all the advice

After the 4th try I finally passed inspection. Took me 3 different shops, $100+ in gas, one failed inspection sticker $16, and one passed sticker $16. A bit costly when you make 8.50 an hour

I'm sure that I'm just retarded, but I can't think of anything other than Fuel Injection that would require saving for and has these initials...

In Va the inspection station CANNOT fail you car for tint no matter how dark it is. You can have limo black tint they can't fail you. But you can get a ticket with dark tint. I know this because the inspection station I send cars to just went through an ordeal over tint and the cop that moniters his inspections told him he can only fail tinted windows if it is cloudy or has logos or lines or such in it. Plain tint in good order passes VA inspection no matter how dark it is.
