well I just had LASIK eye surgery on Friday and already its an amazing difference. I've worn contacts/glasses since middle school or early high school and finally got sick of the hassle. I was also able to get a $3k discount because my roommate's brother is an eye doctor at John Hopkin's eye center.
It wasn't very painful and just about a day or 2 of slight blurriness as the eye heals and swelling reduces. I now have 20/15 in my right eye and 20/20 left eye.
I'm really excited now about driving because contacts get dust in them when I'm at the track and dry out on long drives.
Has anyone else had this done??

Jesus that's a sick ass discount!! How much would the procedure have been otherwise?
I naturally have 20/15 & 20/20 the last time I got checked, but I have a suspicion my vision has gotten worse since then. I'd definitely consider LASIK instead of wearing contacts.
My buddy has 20/800 vision and they denied him from LASIK surgery

My mom had it done a couple monthes ago and it has worked great for her. It's not for everyone though, some types of vision defects cannot be treated with it. My dad had what they called 'smokey vision' which wasn't so much blurry as it was cloudy. He had lasik on his left eye 3 times and his right eye 5 times and it never got any better. Granted this was back in 2000/2001 before laser eye surgery was as advanced as it is now, so they may be able to treat those conditions with it now.

i've contemplated it, but i simply can't justify the cost right now. if i were able to get a deal such as yours, i'm sure i'd be singing a different tune.

wow I'm very surprised to hear that- its supposed to be the exact opposite. my eyes are kinda dry and I have to use a lot of artificial tears for a couple months.

yeah thats why I bit the bullet. it would have been $6100 at Hopkins, which is a little more than some of the "lasik plus" type places. I felt going with someone I knew and John Hopkins was a better choice.

I had it done right after I graduated college. I couldn't see the alarm clock my vision was so bad but I was 20/15 after getting it done. It is likely the most life changing experience I've ever had.

I wanted to do it last year, but it was just a little too much money. Maybe this year.

Never had the sack or the dough to have someone cut my eye multiple times. Last year I was going to pull the trigger but that was cut quite short by a visit to the Orthodontist with my 9 year old!!!

doesn't the air force not allow people that have had lasik to fly or is that just for the jets? I know there's other jobs aside from fly boy, but I'm not sure what you're specializing in.

PRK...not Lasik. I ride in the back of a jet, so I'm obviously not a pilot.

congrats Boobies!
I've had a few friends get Lasik and they loved it. I've never consulted a doctor about it, but i'm considering it sometime in the future. Like Mike, i can't justify the cost yet.
