I think we'll see it with the next gen IS. If they don't screw up the styling the way BMW is sure to screw up on the next 3 series they might be able to stage a coup de'tat

I saw a V8 swap into an IS300 last night on a Spike TV commercial... So hot, finally the car has enough power.

There's a paragraph or two about the IS430 in one of this month's car rags... That would be ridiculously cool - I've driven an '03 IS300 a couple times and it's an awesome RWD platform but unfortunately can't get out of it's own way in a straight line... The L would waste it up to about 75mph. Smoothest manual tranny I've ever had the pleasure of shifting - my purpose in driving it was to demonstrate heel-toe to the owner (who up until that point hadn't driven a stick). Although this 430 has the Supra 6-spd...

The V8 IS300 is on Rides (TLC) right now. Odd, they actually call it an IS430... I don't know if it's a Lexus motor or not.

I've never met him, but yes he is expensive, yes, he is a bastard. I've heard that too from a two separate 3rd gen owners. I've met his lead tech and he's cool as shit though. I was much more satisfied with Rotary Performace in Manassas (the page gave a good reference to them). And RP's web site was done by a Mr. Aaron Rinaca. Some of you know him. Big Grin

Jack's Cliff's Notes: PF is an ass, but his lead tech is cool.

Because other V8 motors are cheaper and easier to make go fast.

The IS430 was on Rides on TLC last night. They took the motor from the GS430 which is the aluminum v8 and put it in the IS300 body. They used a supra 6 speed tranny for the swap.

Other V8 motors like what? I suppose there's the 4.7 from the Tundra but that's about it.

Like a chevy small-block. When I hear V8 conversion I automatically think a domestic motor, I didn't think they'd use the motor out of a 430/
