Thermostat Orientation (BMW people)
#1
Shit. Or should I say sheiser.

I just did my cooling system overhaul. I replaced water pump, tstat, radiator, hoses, etc. It was a grrrreat time. I stripped a bolt. That was nice too. Then, I just read something about the "orientation of the thermosat". I didn't see an arrow. What happens if it's oriented wrong?

Bleed hole should be pointing 'up'

Right... well.. there's a 50% chance it's not... I guess it'll overheat if it's not up? I warmed it up to operating temp and the gauge stayed at 50% where it should be. Does that mean I'm ok? I'm guessing I'll just have to watch it and see how it does. If it overheats, I have to tear it apart again eh?

It'll just be harder to get air out of the cooling system.
