So I get out of band practice an hour ago with my car parked in Hillside lot to find a key had been drug about 8inches down my driver-side door. I am completely infuriated right now. And on top of that there's nothing that can be done about it.
I think JMU needs some kind of parking lot security survalence system installed because I know I'm not the only victim of some senseless vehicular vandalism. Things like this occur way too often and we pay way too much for parking. Last year, my girlfriend had her windshield broken out and her antenna snapped off in PC Dukes lot and still has to deal with shitty reception for radio stations. EDIT: And I forgot that my sister also had her 05 Mazda6 keyed worse than my car in the baseball lot last year.
I have no enemies so I know this incident was random besides the fact that my car just screams "IM CLEAN AS SHIT, KEY ME!!". I knew it was coming but still... I'm just glad I didn't see it happen to tell you the truth cause I probably would be in jail right now.
I have my touch-up paint so I'm gonna see what I can do but lemme know if you all have any tips just in case I don't get a body shop to do it. The beginning of the scratch seems too deep for buffing and whatnot.
I'm gonna go spend time with my car now... lol

I totally feel your pain, my junior year down there when I had my old WRX it was keyed on every single quarterpanel as well as the hood and drunk, 360 degrees around. I ended up getting it repainted, drove it back home and left it parked there, and drove a beater the rest of the time I was down there.

Jack, man I'm so sorry to hear about this. For anyone who may not know Jack drives probably the cleanest thing on 4 wheels, its gorgeous. I hope it gets repaired ASAP, good luck. If you want someone to camp out in the bushes with some bats let me know.
I'm so anal about my car and the way it looks as well, its been hand waxed every week I've owned it so far, I'm praying something like this doesn't happen to me in the parking garage. I don't park in the open on campus. I've also been planning for weeks now on getting a proximity alarm as well

Wow dude that crazy... I know my situation could have been a hell of a lot worse. Don't think i could survive without my car up here though! Just a risk I have to take. I guess having it around for 3 years and only having this happen once is pretty good. Maybe some kind of cheap cameras hidden in each of the rearview housings - complete with one way mirrors - looking down each side of the car would make me feel more secure. I can dream can't I?? hah
ps... MM bush campers would be nice. How much would we charge for that kind of service? We could make lots of money and have more fun than cleaning up that stadium

Yeah i think the deductible on auto vandalism is going to be like 50 bucks... so not that bad I guess.

The deck is the worst place to park on campus. People get hit there all the time (myself included) because of the narrow parking spots combined with idiot drivers.

Actually I only park in the on campus garage in the evenings when there are vast open areas. Last time I think I had half of the level all to myself. Otherwise I'll park at the nice off campus garage.

It sucks, but thankfully comp insurance will take care of most of it. That feeling in the pit of your stomach as you see it is without a doubt one of the worst though.
FWIW spring exam week of my sophomore year somebody decided to walk around the Supra with a key. Probably got pwned on an exam and decided to fuck up a nice car to make themselve feel better. The only panels they didn't get were the hood or targa, but I think the body shop's bill ended up being a little over $2k to repair it. I know they probably would have been dead if I had witnessed it; temporary insanity would be the perfect description as I ripped their limbs from their torso.
