"In all, Whittaker says, he's been involved in 460 legal actions since winning. "
I found that to be ridiculous. 460 in 5 years! What a world

"his wealth is not yours and you would have done no better with it. Do not think that it should have been distributed among you; loading the world with fifty parasites instead of one, would not bring back the dead virtue which was the fortune. Money is a living power that dies without its root."
It's not exactly spot on because it's talking about inheritance.... but it brings out the point - the world is full of parasites.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

achieving your life's goal before 30: good work.
Thats really a sad story, I never would've thought that winning so much would lead to such a "terrible" life. I always imagined you'd be happy for the rest of your life, but the not being able to trust anyone etc. is really sad. I wonder if there is any way to request your name not being released if you win, like not be in the news and all that
One other interesting not - the guy was already a millionaire to start with. Sounds like his problems didnt start til he had liquid money in hand. He shoul've just spent it all on stuff and told people he didnt have a dollar to give them.

Uh, if he can't handle it he can certainly float it my way. For $314 million I'll do like .RJ and buy my own island, tell you all to fuck off, and make new friends with jet-set heirs and heiresses and anyone who is rich enough to not look like a douchebag and come up and ask me for money.
 I'm only partly kidding. Mostly about the island part. I'd rather live on a lake 8)

Well, suddenly coming into a lot of money is basically like suddenly getting a lot of power. A lot of people would not handle getting a lot of power suddenly very well and the same goes with money.
With a shitload of money you can get into a shitload more trouble with self destructive behavior. And the people around you (family or otherwise) can do the same.
Kinda reminds me of The Great Gatsby in a way.
