So, I mentioned in Derek's thread a while back that I also just purchased a home down in Fort Mill, SC, about 15 minutes outside of Charlotte. Now that Travis is enjoying his new beast, I want you guys to see the reason why I had to let it go, and why I've been working so hard the past few years.
I will be moving down there at some point within the next several months, and definitely before the end of the year. The house should be completed in mid November. I just got back from two days worth of appointments to do color selections, loan applications, etc. Always having the mod bug, I also scouted out a bunch of cool stuff I'm going to be doing to it
I tried to make a Photobucket album or slideshow so you could just click one link, but I couldn't figure it out. Here are the pics of the community and the model home, which is going to look basically exactly the same as the house I bought (95% of the options I chose are the same as the model).
First, the community and the golf course. Regents Park is a golf course community, and my home will be literally 50 yards from the 4th Hole. Here are some shots of my neighbors.

Some shots of the course (the fairways are a little brown because they've been having a drought down there like we have). This is from the fence closest to my house.

Me teeing off. Ha ha ha... that's the third time I've ever played golf, and I can't hit a straight shot with an iron to save my life. Woods I'm actually pretty good with at the driving range, but my buddy didn't have any. Believe it or not, that ball ended up on the fairway it had such a wicked slice

That's pretty much it! Sorry I know that's a ton of pics and is probably boring, but I'm really excited because this is a big step in my life. I'm basically completely relocating and taking a whole new path, although I'll be in the same line of work for the same company if my transfer gets approved. The area is awesome, I'm less than 5 minutes from a huge man made lake, close to the golf course, Carrowinds (like King's Dominion), and more importantly close to good friends of mine. If any of you MMer's are down that way, hit me up any time! I'll have at least one spare bedroom if I'm not renting one out for you to crash in.

good to hear man. i was going to wonder why you chose to live there, but seeing the note about the friends i'm happy for you man! looks like a stellar house in a pretty nice community. I also hope your house is close to a tee-box and not a green!
congrats! :-D
Ballin'.
It'll look even better with a new 'Vette in the driveway
Yah, fortunately there's a row of houses between my house and the course  I had the opportunity to buy right on the course, but it wasn't really appealing to me.
The housing market is really really good down there right now too, it's a good place to be for sales. It's one of the few areas of the country that hasn't slowed down tremendously, mostly because of the low prices and lack of rapid overinflation of property values.

Fuckin awesome man. I love it! I'm not sure how familiar you are with downtown charlotte and the area but my twin brother said he'd be happy to show you around the area (his g/f is from the northern tip of SC as well) and show you where the good bars and such are at.

Oh sorry, hah I probably should have clarified that. If you look at the pics of the townhomes on the street, they all have 1 car garages. That particular model was the sales center, so they converted the garage into a color selection center. So imagine that double glass french door to be a single garage door for my house =)
Edit: It's kind of hard to tell from the pics, but you could potentially fit 4 cars in the garage / driveway. There's space for 2 cars in front of the garage, and another space in front of the front door separated by a mulch bed.

Thanks guys!! Ha ha yeah RJ, there's a Tony Roma's right around the corner.
EDIT:
Rex: Oh yeah, the joys of model home decorators. I think it's supposed to help act as a deterrant for people who think they can use that toilet when they aren't supposed to. That's funny you noticed that.
That green thing on the tub is a piece of tape that says "Do not touch tub until 8/29 at 10AM". When I stopped in, the local porcelain repair company had just fixed a huge ding in the tub in the model because some customer had somehow knocked that stained wooden ledge above it off of the wall.

I've got tons of stuff I want to do, but it will obviously depend on how tight funds will be (which will likely be tight when I first move in  )
I'll definitely be doing granite tops, probably in the owner's and hall bath upstairs as well. Custom colors will go in... a friend of my friends down there is a painter and has the hookup for painting entire houses. I plan on eventually doing a shit ton of custom trim work... shadow boxing, 3 or 4 piece crown maybe with some wallpaper inserts, casing, etc.
I added an extra 110V outlet in the center of that wall to the left of the fireplace for a projector, and added three speaker prewires on the opposite wall to get it ready for 5.1 surround. I added only those three because they were cheap ($180 for all 3) and because they were in an area structurally that's going to be a pain in the ass to pull wires to later. All the rest of the wiring I'm going to pull myself, including a CAT5 outlet that will run from the central hub in the house up through conduit into the attic and down next to the projector for my XBOX 360. I also added a 110V outlet in the owner's bedroom across from where that bed is for a wall-mounted TV.
I upgraded the flooring through the builder as well as the vinyl flooring in the owner's bath and bathroom upstairs. It was really cheap to do and the upgrade actually looks really really nice... it looks almost exactly like high end slate tiling. Eventually I'd like to put in real ceramic though, so I asked the PM to shim up the cabinets 3/4" for me so I have the gap to do it.
I need to get a fridge and a washer and dryer. I'll probably look on CL for those, as well as some new furniture. If you have any tips for some cheap good places to look Scotty, please let me know! =)
The big plan I have is to make that loft into a place that I really want to go to. I love it already, but I plan on making a bar (possibly a wet bar) in that far corner near where the window is (window won't be there on mine because I'm an interior unit). The bar will have the same cabinets as my kitchen and I'll probably reuse the vinyl tops that will get ripped out from my kitchen once I put my granite in. I also want to install a kegerator in there  . I already put a TV outlet in that space for a wall mounted TV. Unfortunately I don't think there's enough space for a pool table up there, so I'll probably pick up a foosball table and maybe a large arcade style video game or two.
That's it for now! Maybe some new plants outside and patio stuff, but it's going to be a challenge just furnishing the place with things that I need. So who knows what the timetable will be.
Scott, you and your wife are always welcome with me. Stop in the next time you guys are driving up that way and we'll go do some fun stuff
