Live = Obscure (Speed has control of most of the good stuff) First Run/Historical = OLD.

It depends on how many of the good racing series from around the world they can get their hands on. They absolutely must have F1, Moto GP, and WSBK to start with. Then they'll have to get stuff like BTCC, WTCC, BSB, FIA GT, Super GT, and Australian V8 Supercar.
What will be really cool is if they can show qualifying for the big series like WSBK and Moto GP the way they do for F1. I suppose if they are a sort of Speed2 it can work.

Edit: What evan said. I'm glad that speed shows what they do, and I can get the rest on my own through bit torrent.

this is being lead by Jim Liberatore, the fired Speed Channel head honcho http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/cablet ... 1000903375 and judging by the garbage he put on speed like 'unique whips', I dont have much confidence in him.

Meh, I doubt if it'd work, It'd be nice though.
Unfortunately, NASCAR sells shit to American people, and no other racing series does it as well. NASCAR is advertisement, and so is TV, so it only makes sense that and advertiser is going to throw their money to the station that attracts the most amount of people, be it rednecks, or anyone else.

The reason NASCAR is popular is because they did an excellent job of marketing their sport, controlling costs, maintaining parity, etc. Now granted most of the other series cannot control cost or parity the way NASCAR does but pretty much all of the other racing series in the US get a C- or below on marketing and promotion. If TRN wants to be successful they're going to have to work with the sanctioning bodies to change that. They'll also have to work out deals with some of the international series to help them build appeal here.

So did everyone else get the email about this from nasa? It said they would have plenty of coverage for nasa races and even some hpdes (:?
.I think I agree that this probably won't be able to be a profitable network, but I'd sure like to see them try. I'll watch it all constantly until it folds. Edit: The have a forum where they argue over what should be shown... http://www.theracingnetwork.com/boards/index.php MM ATTACK!!!

As much as I would like to see a network like this prosper, us Nascar rednecks hold the $$ when it comes to keeping a racing network on the air in the U.S. Evan brought it up earlier, Speedvision, and it didn't do so hot.

Here's the NASA email Hunter was referring to:
Dear NASA Fan, You are receiving this email because your email address is in NASAÔÇÖs national database. We very rarely email everyone in the database on a national level, but there is some very important news. A new all-racing network channel is about to launch in 2008. It will feature many forms of racing. NASA will have at least 10 hours of 1st-run programming (plus reruns) during 2008. This means that you and/ or your race could be shown on this network (even HPDE will be featured!). However, new networks such as this need help to show that the service provider would gain subscribers. Please take 30 seconds to clink on the link found on this page http://www.theracingnetwork.com, and enter your email address. There is no obligation; this is merely help to get this network on the air. Your email address will not be sold or given out. I hope you can help; and thank you for the understanding regarding this rare emailing. This will not be a regular thing. Evan Wrote:Hunter Wrote:coverage for ...some hpdes (:?I cant think of anything more boring. yea really, I have like 30hrs of HPDE footage, and 40 minutes of race footage, guess what I watch and show to people? well, so I did get a few cool shots w/ the chasecams in a HPDE but other than that, I show the race.

I voted for it, I actually love watching racing on TV, I watched a lot of F1 lately and used to watch WRC/Dakar rally when I could get it.
I wonder if any of this has to do with actual viewer participation in the sport of road racing. Pretty much everyone I know, from MM and other forums who are into F1, touring car racing, etc etc actually participate in some form of racing themselves, whether it be auto x or RR or what have you, whereas I don't know a single Nascar fan or have ever heard of one who actually participates in some form of racing. My uncle used to be a circle dirt track racer and I never heard him or any one else at the track talk about Nascar, I'm sure some are fans however. But I would bet money that there are more active autocrossers and road racers in this country then there are dirt track racers/circle track racers, so why Nascar has a more active fanbase is a mystery to me.
