Looks like its going to happen - http://www.wishtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=6755425

Dorna will probably release a tentative 2008 schedule in the next few weeks.

Anyone interested in trying to get a block of seats? I know I'll be in, and likely taking a day or three to ride out.

Quote:I just spoke with group ticket sales at IMS.

Obviously, they can't tell me anything officially, but here's the skinny:

Don't expect group discounts for this years race. They do group discounts for F1 and Indy, but since it's a new event they expect will sell out, there won't be discounts.

If we have a group of 20 or more, they can do block seating. Essentially, we reserve a block of seats, then each person can call up individually and pay for their seats. This would work out nicely so we could all sit together, but once person wouldn't be on the hook for $3k+ in tickets.

Tickets will be going on sale within two weeks of the official announcement. However, the guy I spoke to said it would be worth calling on the 16th...they may be able to hold a block of seats on that day, but he wasn't 100% on that.

I might be interested.
My father lives about 1.5 drive away, and I am very familiar with Indy anyways, having gone there since I was a boy for the 500 and the USGP.

Why the hell are they having it at IMS? Blech...

Does this mean no Laguna next year?

Nope. It means *two* US MotoGP rounds Smile

Between that and the possibility of WSBK at Barber, its a great time to be an international motorcycle racing fan...

September 14th is the word. Barber is supposedly getting the WSBK date in the spring but no word on when that is going to get announced.

September 14th is confirmed. The ticket prices look pretty good.

All prices are for a 3 day pass
General Admission: $75
Regular Grandstands: $100
Grandstand near beginning and end of front straight: $125
Penthouse and upper deck seats: $150

Those look like great prices. Nothing on paddock passes yet though.

Well if you live on the West Coast there's no reason to go to Indy. Maybe you should check out Barber for WSBK though =)

Concur on all counts... As much as I'd like to do Barber next year, I have a feeling I'm not going to have any available vacation since I have to devote at least two-thirds of my leave towards certain other personal events next year... Smile

Go ahead and count me in.
Like I said I grew up there and know the track facilities and viewing points very well. I also know some of the surrounding area. I will probably be staying at my fathers house a little over an hours away.
