Floppy Problem

How's it goin

Alright here's the problem. I recently built a tower and i wanted to add in a 3.5" floppy drive. Well I bought my first one and the green led stayed on, as if it were busy all the time. I thought it was the floppy drive so i bought another one. Apparantly the second one is doing the same thing. Is the motherboard the problem??? I have it hooked up with an orion clear round cable if that helps (doubtful). Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Double check how you're plugging it in.

double check that the cable's not plugged in upside down? (that may be a stupid thing to think, but I know I've had drives that have nothing to indicate orientation of the cable, and plugging it in upside down leads to results like you're getting)

Shouldnt a floppy problem be something to discuss with your girlfriend?

Yep. Floppy cables can be plugged in upside down, causing EXACTLY what is happening with your computer.

IDE HDD cables are keyed. Can't plug 'em in backwards. Ditto with SCSI.
