Project: Duratec Focus
#1
Well, I figured it was about time to start spending way too much money on my car, hoping that it will be more fun to drive.

I'm not sure exactly where I'm going on this one, but my idea is to slightly increase power output, but mostly to get the car handling and braking a bit better. Eventually I want to track the car, and since safety is first and foremost to me, I'll start looking in that direction in a year or so after I get the suspension figured out.

Things I have done:
-Steeda 21mm rear sway bar. The focus didn't come with one stock, and due to a shitload of body roll, and the price of the kit compared to other modifications, I figured that'd be the best place to start.

Things I want to do:
-SVT suspension
-SVT rear disc brake conversion
-A good set of front brake pads
-Exhaust
-Possible SVT front disc conversion
-New wheels
-New tires to go with the new wheels

Things I might do:
-Short shifter
-Roll Cage
-Racing seats
-Racing belts.

In general, I am trying to keep the cost to a minimum for the time being.
At some point, if I become rich, I might start throwing more money at it, but right now I am pretty happy with the performance of the car, I just want to see what I can do to make it better.

roll bar or roll cage? i'm gonna assume roll bar since i'm sure a lot of those mods would make your car in eligible for possible spec focus and you want to start tracking your car, not racing your car... yet.

also, dont forget to enviroflush the engine or whatever

awesome, great model focus.

i think if you are looking to keep costs down, a nice intake/exhaust combo from either focussport or marcy motorsports would give you a nice 10 hp or so kick with a tune, of course. thats about a grand right there.

have you considered the multimatic suspension from ford? when i was looking at foci that sounded like the best street setup.

A bar probably would be the better choice. At this point I'm not sure I have any desire to actually race on a road course, and if I did, I would probably just buy a different car.
