So Chan and I went to a wedding in Ohio this weekend....and came back with this:

It's an '02, plus the crappy '02 tranny has already been replaced with the '04 Getrag tranny.
It's such a fun little car! Can't wait to autocross it! Big Grin

Nice purchase! I drove one back when they first came out and had a blast with it. Only question is where is the center exit exhaust? Tongue

It's a replacement for the Accord, although we're in no hurry to sell it, it'll hang around as a winter car for now.

No boost because I didn't want to take care of it. The SC wasn't designed to have the oil changed, it's a apparently a big PITA if you do want to do it, and it's not designed to last the life of the engine. You also lose the spare tire because they relocated the battery to the back. AND, since we were having a hard time finding an '04+ with the better trans in our price range, adding boost to a weak trans didn't sound like a good idea to me.

We test drove a SC'd one, and sure, it was fun, but it was just a bunch of wheelspin in 1st/2nd, not really useful until 3rd gear IMHO. Personally I think this one will be a better daily driver. 95% of the time, the boost will not be missed. I did have to talk Jess out of it though.

The handling is pretty sick though for stock(ish) tires... I'm a bit jealous. On a few corners I'm used to taking fast on the way home, the quick turn in screwed me up! And in stock form, the springs are closer to what's on my E30 (H&R race springs) rather than anything you'd find on a stock car. This is the only FWD car I've driven that I find acceptable. Next to my E30 in the garage, it's 3 ft shorter, the E30 looks like a Buick. Sad

I'm really interested in seeing how this continues. The Mini is one of only a very few FWD cars that I would consider buying.

Because FWD is the ultimate suck.

Edit: No offense to Jess/Chan - I actually thought the Mini was RWD. LOL. I could never drive a FWD car again though...

I've got a 4WD truck, and I'm sure you've got a oak tree nearby... we can make it shorter, and uglier
