Call it maturity, immaturity, growing old, too much free time or just plain frivoloity but I (finally, after 3 weeks waiting for the title) brought home the 2006 Honda Shadow Aero tonight. I'm keeping the SV for rides in the mountains with friends and the cruiser will be for rides around town and with the wife as riding 2up on a sportbike really isn't that fun. The retro looks of this thing helped me make my decision and the killer deal I got certainly didn't hurt either.
It's got short pipes and what basically amounts to larger direct air intake. It's loud as shit and I'm pretty sure some parts of my body are numb from the vibration. It's got nothing above 70mph but I can't really see needing to go above that on a cruiser. The interesting thing about is it's actually pretty nimble. Hip movements have a much larger effect than I would have thought given the weight but I suppose the extremely low seat height and center of gravity is what does it. I'm convinced cruiser guys are nuts because everyone I spoke too said a 750 wouldn't be enough and it certainly seems plenty quick for me.
The first item of note is taking off the retarded saddle bangs and installing the money Corbin I got for half price.

haha..man, everyone's been slamming RJ so much lately, I'm taking a break.

Nice looking bike! Are there any real differences between this and a Harley, in terms of the v-twin engine etc? Or is it basically the same bike with a different brand name? I'm just curious why people buy Japanese cruisers like these, if they are more affordable or higher quality or what. Some of the custom accessories for Japanese cruisers look really awesome too, dare I say better than Harley stuff
differences between jap cruisers and harleys:
cheaper
more reliable
probably more power

That's pretty much it. If my cursory look at HD pricing, I think they were considertably more than the Japanese counterparts. Add to that the fact that I've never owned an American vehicle and you end up with me getting a Honda.

You must have a weirdly shaped ass then. They feel hard at first but they really do mold to your ass after a bit of use. I couldn't do our day long rides on the SV without one. I like it so much so that I bought the Corbin for the Aero a month before I even had the bike.

worst seat I ever sat on was a stock Honda Shadow 750 ACE seat (which was my first seat). 30 minutes and my rear was numb.
congrats on the buy. bike will last forever.
just out of curiosity - did the bike come with the Hypercharger?
*edit* and cruiser guys are kind of right... 750 isn't enough. I ditched mine because it lacked power. Wait until you've got a passenger and load it down with stuff for a weekend getaway. Won't be able to get out of your own way. (based on personal experience)
2 nagging queestions:
What's a hypercharger?
Why oh why is there a pic of $$ on the ground.... did I miss something? Do I want to know? I gotta say, if I had a stack of cash, that would not be my first thought.
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a van is a good guy with a van
worst seat i've ever sat on was gerald's RR. it's like a block of wood with some black vinyl taped to it
chris, when you say HDs were more expensive in your looking, you mean by like 3x, right?

Yeah it did... although I'm convinced that it doesn't really do shit, despite the $300 price tag.
Maybe you're right about the 750 but I really don't have any intention to load it up with anything other than the wife and I for leasurely Sunday rides. I was eyeing an older 1100 in the funky orange and white scheme 'cause I dig the retro look but they were more for an older bike so I abandoned that (for now).

At least 2x for a comparable machine and the lower displacements HDs suck.
