So, my improperly working HID's are out of the car, but I would like them to work properly. One of them tends to go out when I take a corner fast. I don't know what the problem is, and I have no idea how to fix it. So, I ask anyone here if they would like to have my HID kit for a couple of days and just try to find the problem and then fix the problem. I offer up to $50 plus the cost of material.
I can take a look at them this week.

Awesome! Please let me know when you are available...thanks Nick!
I told you one of the ballasts are bad, you even said yourself that the guy told you one got moisture in it. I havent had time to try to look for you, but with how cheap those HID kits are now these days, itll cost ya less just to get a new set
Forgot the halogen HID set, and do a real HID retrofit.

"Real" HID retrofit??? What's the difference between my HID kit and a "real retrofit?" One of the relays was bad because moisture got into one of those, so it was replaced. Most people say I have a loose connection/bad wire...I don't know what to do with that so that's why I'm asking for help because I don't know crap when it comes to mechanical stuff.
Thursday is fine with me.

This is what the previous owner had to say:
Sorry about the response delay, I know this matters, but yeah if you could just check the relay I'm pretty sure that would solve the problem and all you have to do is unplug the old one and plug in the new one. Any parts store should be able to find a match if you just unplug them and bring them in.
It's hard to say where I mounted them as I don't remember the EXACT spot since the engine bay is so cluttered. They were kind of below the bulbs but on a flat surface... This is what made water pool and corroded the one relay that I already replaced. It too, wouldn't always work and then died. Of course it was green with corrosion so I pretty much guessed what the issue was and turned out to be correct. So anyway, then I remounted them on a angled surface so when it rains, the water would move downward and not pool on the ballasts or relays. The ballasts should be waterproof.
To turn on the ballast, it needs two power inputs (one from the battery (the wire that you ran which is always getting power) and one from you turning the lights on (through the stock bulb harness) Without energy going through both lines, the relay won't activate the ballast. Which means there's always going to be power going through the wires, but if the relay isn't working right, it might not recognize that one of the power lines is turned on. (battery wire & bulb harness both receiving power = activation of relay)
there is a huge difference between a real HID kit and the one you run, if you would like, you can talk to me about doing a real set, but this actually requires going over to HID projector or reflector, not the "JDM MAD-TYTE HID PROJECTOR EBAY" junk, or your stock projectors made for halong bulbs.

Well, now Nick and Jeff have kindly taken the time to reinstall and test my HID kit, and they come to the conclusion that my bulbs need to be replaced...so now I am looking for H7 bulbs to go along with my kit. Any help on this anyone? Blair? I e-mailed the owner and he might be buying me some new bulbs, but for convenience sake, I might just want to buy them myself. Basically, if someone where to tap the headlight housing, the bulb will go out. Figitting with other components of the HID kit will not cause the light to go out.
Basically, the relays have been cleaned and their contacts have been sprayed with contact cleaner. The relays were manually tested and function great, they have no reaction to shock. Also, the ballasts were remounted and the grounds were shortened and contact points cleaned to make the best contact.
If you strike the headlight housing with the butt of you hand the drivers side light will go out. Simply turning the lights off and back on will fix it until another shock is applied. Also, we noticed that the headlamps sometimes do not fire on the first time you turn them on, it might require multiple cycles of the switch to fire both bulbs, I would imagine this is also a bulb contact related issue. The previous install had the wiring pinched under the retaining clip that holds the bulb in, we removed the clips completely, installed the bulb, then installed the clip around the wiring. We think this may have caused the wiring in the back of the bulb to break and thus causing the malfunction now.

The bulbs and ballasts fail so easily. 2 of my friends bought them and installed them and then GAVE them to me. I ran one of em for a while, but then got tired of them flickering and doing the same problems Ciro has. They are just junk. Ask people. A real retrofit is the way to go.
