Was picking up some parts today, got back in my car, and noticed a 4-door Civic Si parked in front of me. Still had all the silly plastic thingies on it. It got my attention, so I jumped out and scoured it.
I didn't spend much time, but it is a pretty attractive car, has the same engine as the RSX-S, 4-doors, a very nice interior (as far as economy cars go), and according to the salesman it has a very good power to weight ratio, which makes it as fast as my S2000... Yeah, gotta love salesmen. MSRP was $22k, but he said he had a few in stock so deals were ready to be made.
Thank god Honda is "getting it" again after half a decade or so of blandness.
Add yet another to my list of potential next cars We now stand at: IS350 or 300, Civic Si Sedan, Civic Si Hatch, Forester XT, G35, TL-S, TSX, Legacy GT.

The exterior doesn't do it for me... looks like a Stratus buttfucked a TSX.
I'm pretty sure I dig the large center tach and heads up speedo though.
I'm opinion prolly means little to nothing because I'm an eurowhore though.

ugly as sin, and the performance specs would be passable...if it were 2002. It will sell a few because of the H on the hood, but its far from impressive.

Its nothing revolutionary but its a pretty nice package for a econo-box @ $20k. 200hp, 6 speed, honda reliability, should be a fun chassis to toss around. Maybe I'll go get a test drive.

Maybe inflation has left me behind but $20k seems like a lot of money for an "econo-box" no? I mean for that price I'm getting an '06 Mazda6. Actually, I'd probably sell plasma to get the extra $4-5k for a Mazdaspeed6.
The Si is probably an awesome car... if you're in high school.

I think calling a car that has 200HP, LSD, and 6spd an "econobox" would be misclassifying it a bit. Unless the ITR was an econobox.

I guess its just a matter of brand preference then. For the same MSRP you can get a V6 5-speed Mazda 6. The honda resale will probably be a little better in the end.

doesnt this car still have the same shitty suspension that the RSX did?

i think the only thing i don't like about this car is the exterior styling and the fact that it's FWD.
i think it's hot though
I'd prefer an MS3.

Viewscreen on.
I remember reading a newspaper article a few years ago about considering the civic an up-and-coming vehicle. The body panel tolerances were getting very close, relative to the cars it was marketed against, it was starting to get better features, and so forth. I feel like the Fit is going to be the bottom run replacement for this go 'round and it'll be looked at much the same way we look at the Civic now... until then I guess the real Civic is making small steps out of the econobox-basic hole, into something a little nicer. A car for the first time professional or something.

Isn't that what Kia's commercials say they are? Yay Korea! Andrew's on to something though. The cars that used to be stripper econoboxes are growing up a bit. Best example is the Mazda 3. It used to be the Protege and before that the 323. Neither car was what you'd call a 'destination car', but now the 3 is rather nice.
The Civic is getting that way too, which is partly how the Fit came into existence.

So Mike you decided not to go to work because of the inclement weather, but still made it to the Honda dealership to pick up parts? Hrmm.
I like the Si Sedan, it has an attractive interior, but my current car is hopefully the last FWD car I get.
