There will be an SCCA drivers school March 24 and 25.
At the same time we will be holding a Flagging and Communications class for anyone interested in getting envolved in SCCA club racing. PM me for more info.

Its the SCCA licensing school - gotta have a race ready car. If you pass 2 x 2 day schools (or 1 x 3 day) you get a regional license. DC region does a fall and a spring 2-day school.

I considered doing it too, but renting plus the school is looking at like 600-700 bucks...

if you found a place to rent a car for $200-$300 pass along the info!!!
If you aren't ready to race $ or time then the Flagging & Communications school is a great way to get involved. Other opportunities are available in timing and scoring, tech, EV, grid etc. It doesn't cost anything to find out. Let me know if you are interested.

The school itself is $400. If rental + school is 600-700... then rental is 200-300. Follow the bouncing ball

woah the school itself is 400? hahaha alright woops! I was thinking it was around 300, which technically is still cheap, 300-400 for a rent-a-car is close to the price though.

Not even close, unfortunately. Renting a racecar, even a spec miata, for a school weekend is going to cost you $1200-1500.

ahhhh yes. really? 1200-1500? i could have sworn it was 800-1000, but the last i checked was probably 2 years ago.

I think around 1400-1500 is what Alex charges. You might be able to do it cheaper though, although if you rent one of the Kingrat cars you wont have any suprises and you get a crew for the whole weekend (from what I hear you cant do the school without one).

I think Gerald paid around $1000 for his rental at the Roebling school. His steering wheel fell off and his rain tires were cheap pepboys allseasons. So to a certain extent you get what you pay for. Id probably rent a SM from Meathead over Alex though.

Knowing what I know now I would've made sure I had the rain tire question answered ahead of time.

Yeah, all-seasons simply do not work on the track... even in the rain. I couldn't keep an f'ing Civic pointed straight 2 years ago at VIR.
