Whoo, Finally got a decent DigiCam

Picked up a DSLR today as a christmas present to me and Christina from us! Just took a few shots w/ it today, so far, me like






(I should have done a custom WB on this one, but I'm still trying to figure that out)

I got a Canon EOS XT, 18-55 lens, w/ a Speedflash 430. I want to pickup another lens, something in the 25-200/250 range.

chad, i don't know of any good lenses with a range as big as you're looking for... i'm very happy with my 75-300 (175ish) and plan on getting a 28-135 (350ish) for carry around purposes.

75-300 would be fine, is that an EFS lense? I'm guessing it is a plastic frame going on the price? How is the speed on it, have you had any problems?

mmmm i think it actually may be metal frame; it's much sturdier than the stock lens. i have no complaints with it whatsoever.

That camera has really come down in price. I have seen a few places with some great deals and wondering about attempting to pick it up myself. Nice buy, lots of potential.

Was able to hang out with a professional photographer in the family this weekend and he really showed me the capabilities of a nice lens... what a difference a high quality lens can make with the right skills. The custom contrast program he has on the camera I'm sure helps too. :lol:

yea, I've already found some shortcomings of the lens that came w/ this camera. It's to slow to do a proper blur effect of a background when playing with the aperture, looks like I'm going to have to plop down ~350 for a decent lens now...ah well.
