Well today my '96 Impala SS stopped working while over at Squire Hills and i believe the crank position sensor to be at fault as when i took connector off it was quite oily and after cleaing it up it fired up but not long enough to drive it back here to Stone Gate.
Now in my car it takes an 8mm socket to get the one bolt out but lucky me has it on there so tight that its basically stripped and i cant get it off anybody have any ideas, cause i definitely am in need of some help...
I probably have to now take it somewhere to get bolt out i imagine

Why would you drill out something with a rounded head? Its not snapped off...

pound a 7mm on there and get yourself a new one :-).
No lie, I've seen this done and it worked. I've never had to do it, but I guess it's an option. I'd go for the Sears tool too though.
anyone know for 20 which is best? im guessin this one that says #2 socket in set does 8mm:

*cough cough*
Before putting a drill anywhere near the engine I'd like to know why the rounded bolt tool didnt work - was there not enough room? Not enough bite?
If the head is still on the bolt its quite possibly going to be a bitch to pull out. You are much better off with a drill and an ez-out rather than just hogging out the hole and hoping you can re-tap it.

yea it crank pos sensor holding bolt so on my LT1 its at very front of engine at bottom, so kinda awkward spot for no jack.
But basically it didnt want to bite in and with pressure applied when turned it would lift slightly as it was turning and just slip.
But my dad also pointed out that yea maybe when its connector was cleaned it fired up but when it cut off after like 10-15sec it wouldnt repeat that
Only some time in between got it to repeat problem.
So I think Im going to try and put in the old ignition module that i happen to have back in and see if the new one hasnt begun to crap out.
But I will still need to deal with that messed up bolt...

Can you fit vice grips in there?

Chisel + hammer
A good sharp Chisel will be able to bite on the edge and maybe spin it. How many lbs are on this thing?

uhhhh thats what I was saying it, thread cleaner or screw extractor is not re-tapping it.....sometimes RJ...sometimes...
If you get the bolt out clean with a screw extractor (or some other means) then you dont need to tap the hole.
