Pictures in sigs?

Just out of curiosity...why aren't we allowed to have pics or .gif images in our signature? I think it was said to me a long time ago that its because of 56k connections...but seriously....who cares about 56k anymore, its the 21st century :lol:

Ok, I figured as much. Though it would be cool if we could, given an enforced size....some sigs are wide but very short so you don't have to scroll at all, and the extra load time is negligible. Just came to me recently from viewing other boards, ours looks kinda boring

I for one find sig pictures to be annoying and confusing. And to top it all off, I may not be on 56k, but my connection here at home isn't much faster - so I can absolutely appreciate a streamlined thread view with no sig pictures.
