Quote:McCoy to Ride Ilmore This Season
-press release-

September 12, 2006
Italian website www.motograndprix.com is reporting that Garry McCoy will campaign the new Ilmor MotoGP bike this season. The England-based company, which is headed by Mario Ilien, has roots in auto racing and has plans to contest the entire 2007 MotoGP series, when the championship adopts an 800cc displacement cap. They were known to want to take part as a wildcard in the last two rounds of this season, at Estoril, Portugal, and Valencia, in order to gather information useful for next year's effort. Until now, it wasn't known who would ride the bike. Alex Barros and Max Biaggi were approached, but it seems that Austrlian McCoy, who has already tested the machine, has gotten the nod. So far, the bike has run on Dunlop tires, but Ilmor hopes to secure Michelins for both the two wildcard races and next year.

I bet they still beat the d'Antin Ducati's with an 800cc bike and Garry let loose on track Wink

I guess he's not putting up roller doors anymore! I'm psyched, it's going to be great to have Garry back in the paddock!
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

I'm glad we'll have more names most people will know, but it's probably not going to be as fun to watch him race. When he was sliding all over the place they hadn't implemented much of any kind of traction control, now it's in every bike. I'm betting his exits aren't going to be nearly as dramatic as they used to be.
