Well, with BIG props to Pete, we got the Green Machine (from here on, known only as Slimer) back to MD last night. The trip wasn't without adventure, but what trip with Pete isn't I ask you?
Here it is,
![[Image: IMG_0571.jpg]](http://www.2kgt.com/images/TeardownofSlimer_2006-09-03/IMG_0571.jpg)
Pretty much the same condition as the last pics I posted, just minus an engine/trans and some interior bits.
Step #1
![[Image: IMG_0580.jpg]](http://www.2kgt.com/images/TeardownofSlimer_2006-09-03/IMG_0580.jpg)
Throw away anything that isn't 100% necessary.
Almost there,
![[Image: IMG_0585.jpg]](http://www.2kgt.com/images/TeardownofSlimer_2006-09-03/IMG_0585.jpg)
Few more hard bits to go, boy, seems like I JUST cut a bunch of that out of my car only a few months ago...

Green is bad enough, but Green and Rust is even UGLIER! Good thing it's getting a fresh coat of paint. Fuck a NorthEast car, Never, Ever, Ever buy one you intend on just dirving as a utility car, this thing has more rust and crust than a 90yr old koot.
Well, that's all for now. I spent a few hrs on it today, just taking my time, having fun with it. I'll try and keep this updated, but all the pics and more story can be found here,
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.2kgt.com/item.php?cat=7">http://www.2kgt.com/item.php?cat=7</a><!-- m -->
and this particular Chapter is here,

Step #2
Preview: Fix anything that's broke...next.
Woot :-)
Looks like you got a lot done today!

yay chad! I love the nickname for this car and can't wait to see the progress. Can you make notes to us about things you change about your car (versus the white one) as you go through this project?
someone at work told me you could actually take the roof off the car without cutting it... and then just reinstall... you might want to look into that :-P

Hooray for another hell of a project - your last build left my jaw dropped and I expect nothing less
I imagine this car will be substantially cheaper to build than the last one since you can move so many parts over?
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

yes, they are correct. However, I can't get my cage in unless I cut it off at the A/B/C pillar's. Plus drilling over 200 spot welds isn't my idea of a 'fun' project .
Dave, I will point out the different thing that I do and try to explain why, sometimes the explination may just be, 'just because I wanted to try something different'.

Yea, the end investment will be cheaper. I will do a few things to this car that wasn't on the other one that will increase the cost, but I don't have to buy a suspension or engine/trans again. Which is good.
God damn northeast rusted shit piles <grrrrrrr>
Did a little more work on the green machine (Slimer) over the weekend, I tried .RJ's dry ice method on the sound insulation,
Didn't really do much of shit except make for some cool pics, I ended up going back to he heat gun + scraper + rag w/ Mineral Spirits, I forgot how much that sucked...
Then I decided to pull the suspension out of the car,
And get to work on the front end,
BEFORE,
CURRENTLY,
I took a few measurements and it looks like the TIP of the passenger nose is about 3/4" shifted to the inside. I'm going to have to get a bottle jack and get to work on that...
Well, that's pretty much it for now. Oh, I'm working on the jackstands b/c my lift blew a hydrolic line and spewed about 4qt of fluid on my floor, and yea, the white mustang is 6' in the air...suppose to get a new hose tomorrow, but they'll probably screw up and send me the wrong hose.
Looking good man, glad to see it is going well.

Chad, keep up the good work, man. I positively cannot wait for you to get back on track. (Uh, no pun intended)
Yours was always the best looking car out there, and I can't wait to see it out there again.

lol, it was such a nice day today I couldn't waste it going into work .
There is so much fudge room in those fenders that the entire body could be fucked sideway and it will still line up. I haven't welded it up, just trimmed it and got it ready to weld. On the frame rail I'm going to cut a U channel out of steel and spot weld it inside the two rails to join them together. I need to get some weld through primer before I start welding it up though.
