Ok, I am going to drop my Sprint coverage and move on to something else. I'm fed up with the poor reception, dropped calls, delayed voicemail delivery and hit-or-miss customer service. I've been with them for 5 (?) years but the coverage/reception has gotten worse over the past few years.
I am sure matt will chime in with "dont buy a phone that sucks", but I spent $170 on the phone I have now, and it sucked worse than any of the previous phones.
At any rate, I went into the Cingular store today and I found a phone I liked (LG CG225), and a service plan I liked (450 min, $39.99... add $5 for 200 text messages per month).
What provider are with y'all with and what are your thoughts?

I have been with Cingular for several years now. Actually I was with Suncom before they were purchased by Cingular.
I have a 750 minute plan with unlimited nights and weekends for 49 a month. I upgraded to the razor when I got the plan and I have been very happy with the battery life and reception on the phone.
Overall I have been very happy with Cingular. My only complaint is that text messages sometimes take awhile to send and be received.

I'm sure cingular is nice and wonderful and all, but I will never, ever, EVER be a customer of theirs due to the royal sand-in-the-lube ass fucking we recieved at the hands of Suncom Customer Service. (By service, they of course mean gimp style bound and gagged forced sodomy.)
We have so far been pleased with our Sprint service. We had NTelos before that, (post Suncom) and have liked it. I like 3G, don't like GSM, so I'd probably go with Verizon before Cingular.
Plus I hate that fucking "DROPPED CALLS!!!OMGEVERYBODYPANIC!!!!" ad campaign.

I have Verizon, I hardly use my phone but it works great no problems. I don't really remember what my plan is...450 minutes or something and I have the free cell phone that came with the package (complete with carbon fiber look faceplates....I riced the shit out of it). Its all I need, phones with cameras and GPS tracking and sonar capability piss me off
I had sprint for a year or two and then ws forced to switch when I moved to Vienna (my sprint service stopped somewhere between my kitchen and my living room) I have had verizon for the last year and have been very happy with their coverage. Although I'm not one to get pissed, or even notice if i dont get coverage somewhere or they drop a call. I will say that Verizons customer service can blow me. It was a long story but I ended up paying for my phone twice essentially. That being said, I dont ever really need their help so it works out fine for me. i think i have 450 for 40 bucks, something like that. I may have to add some text messages to that now that i use them alot. I've noticed a strong relationship between a providers service and their phones. usualy providers with "good service" have the least desirable phones )verizon) where as some of the others have really cool phones but shitty service. Verizon did justy get the razor so ill probly be picking that up when im up for a new phone.
Sprint - because any cell service out here in the boondocks sucks, but I get a discount with Sprint, so the shitty service costs a lot less.
My two feet.
I've been with sprint for about 4 years and I'm very happy. Only payin 29.99 a month and I get service pretty much everywhere I need service.

I have been with T-mobile for 3 years and I really like them - 1500min a month (no weekends or nights though) for $39.99. I get good reception and havent had a problem with dropped calls.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

My cingular service is decent, the mobile to mobile mins. are free and we have 2 phones that share a thousand mins and have rollover. Service is pretty good but certain places in the house are a little weak. We live in the boonies so that is expected. I used to have NTELOS and they were pretty good but Cingular had a better plan.

Verizon can lick my balls. I get service anywhere really but I don't get incoming calls. It goes straight to voicemail sometimes and then the voicemail is delayed. I can remember instances when a new voicemail pops up on my screen but it was left 2 days prior. I want to switch providers but apparently all cell providers suck ass with possibily Cingular sucking the least, but they get spotty service and I don't think you can get service at VIR.
Verizon worked when I was in Alaska, Mexico and kayaking 2 miles off the Coast of Main so it will work when I need it too so that's a good part about it.
Last thing, Joan and I have a family plan but we have the hardest time calling each other. Ain't that some shit.

I've had AT&T and Verizon, Verizon just works. It works everywhere. I have no problems with their service. The only problem I have with them is the lack of phone selection, but over the past year or so that has gotten better.
Verizon FTW. Never really had any reception problems with them. The only thing is, their phones suck... but they do have a Razr which I have and like ok.

I love Cingular. I've used it in Alaska, the Caribbean, Vegas, VIR, Summit, Canada, Watkins Glen and the UK all without skipping a beat.
I've had Cingular for about 6 years and the wife had Verizon for the same before we just switched to a Family Talk plan. I had Verizon before that and never really had any problems and I know wifey didn't either. I think they're basically the same but Cingular has better phones so it gets the edge in my book.
The people that I know who always bitch about service have Sprint. How many houses has Matt lived where his cell didn't work? At least the last 2... and that's just unacceptable in Nova these days.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
i've had cingular for the past few years now. i get a discount through the govt, i think the same plan you plan on getting (450min for $39.99) but i dont go over 100 a month because of free m2m. my rollover minutes are in the 3000s right now. its spotty at summit, but works well at VIR. -AND- if you refer me, we BOTH get $25 gift cards. how bout that, bizznitch.

Of the list I've had Sprint and Verizon. We've stuck with Verizon for a little over two years now and have never had a problem with the service or the phones. Sprint we had problem after problem which they could never resolve. Of all services I'd say Verizon is probably the best or one of the best choices for all around service and reception. My roomate has Cingular which hes had for quite a while and seems to like the service.
I use sprint. I've never actually had any trouble with it. I can't really go into that too much because I usually don't use my phone a whole lot. I've never had any dropped calls, and i think once i did have a delayed voicemail, but living in the middle of nowhere,i can actually get decent service to talk to people

Another point for Verizon - this was the clincher for me too - its the only service that works in the metro.
DON'T GET AN LG PHONE
i have one and it sucks. LG's are setup so that there is no "interface" (i don't know a better word) with your computer. wanna upload a ringtone to it from you compy? can't. wanna download pictures you took to you computer? can't.
the only way you can transfer info or get custom stuff with an LG phone is to either transfer it through email (costs you money) or buy it from LG's online store, which is accessble through the phone (more money).
shame, because i like their products. my phone is otherwise a fine peice and we just got a flatscreen monitor for Jen and it's hot.
