So, in the f/s I was talking about getting a Rampage. Well, it turns out for one of those not to be a total POS it will be over $1000. They are a dying breed and very rare in decent shape. Also, none of them car EFI or Turbo factory. So I am thinking about trading my 89 Spirit...for this....
And the best part...
It is in PA and the fellow explained what kind of car he would want in a trade....exactly my Spirit. He wanted a T1 Automatic 4-dr...PLAIN! His 90 Caravan has a new headgasket and tires and the only downsides are:
1. Oil leaks from old turbo lines and oil pan
2. "Knock" transmission related (?)
3. rust on wheel lip (common)
4. Front brakes ($20 at A/Z)
5. Headliner is gone
6. A/C works but had leak...needs recharge. I would tell him strait trade for my car and he would have to come to me. He wanted $600 outright I was asking $900 hoping for $700
So....what ya think?!

oh my god
actually, i'd rather have the turbo van than that ugly ass rampage. Do it, best sleeper evAr!

I think you're a very strange man, Jeff.
If you don't buy that exact one, I say you should buy one of those over the pickup-thing. I'm sure we've all seen the video of the turbo van beating the Camaro (I still have that guys homepage bookmarked somewhere). A turbo minivan would be the ultimate sleeper, I say do it
For a trade I can't beat it. Mine has issues also so trading one for another would be fine with me. The van has MUCH more utility then the car. I love Rampages and I will have one when I have money. But for now...the van would be soooooo pimp.

i laughed alot when i read this, but i won't lie, i think it's a hoot. talk about the ultimate shop car....mmmmm, 80's turbo van...
if it's what you would consider decent shape for it's age, it sounds like a very nice trade fell into your lap. only you Jeff, only you...

I dunno...if I had one of those I'd put a baby seat in it and a few Kerry for President '04 stickers on the bumpers, with dealer plate frames and maybe even "my kids" drawings in the windows to further its sleeper ability (wheres the damn wood trim!?)
Sounds like a good deal other than the odd knock sound and the bad looking paint.
If the knock turns out to be minor than I say go for it.

I approve only if while you're at AutoZone getting the brakes, you pick up a huge metal ricer wing for it and plastic spinning hubcaps. Spray paint that bitch flat black, turn up the boost and put the smackdown on the fartcanners around town!!!

The knock is the only issue. If that turns out to be minor and he is down for a trade I think its mine. Gonna do a cheap re-spray in Viper Graphite and slap on Sylvia's PT wheels...lol

If you take Lee's advice, that would be awesome!
Two feet.
This is far more acceptable than a Ramscampage, but allow me to remind you of this conversation:
Me: Jeff, do you have any kids?
Jeff: What?...No, I don't.
Me: Do any of these imaginary kids play soccer?
Jeff: No, because they don't exist...
Me: Then why do you want a goddamn minivan?!?!!!
But apart from that, I think it's cool.
I think you should flat black it and put 'Free Candy' on the side, in nice vinyl. Maybe gothic/gangsta font.
