They must mean the STi? I've quoted out standard WRX's (well, they were wagons), and they come out to about half of what I'm paying for the STi.
I was actually gonna post a thread about this topic too. Did any of you assholes that turned 25 get the fabled drop in insurance rates? Methinks it's just a tall tale.

I got zero reduction when I hit 25.

I got $25 off every 6 months when I turned 25.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
My rates dropped significantly when I turned 25. Being married helps too.
That being said, our WRX costs more to insure than the Lightning and Saturn put together (as it well should, since its 10 years newer).
Bike insurance isn't as bad as I thought it would be - liability only on the Ninja and full coverage on the VFR is around $380/year. Makes a big difference *where* you are too.
My two feet.
I recently switched to GEICO and got a huge discount. My insurance while under my parents was close to 2 grand a year, now its just under 800. also I noticed the s2000 was in the top ten. I recently priced one out (used) and the insurance wasn't that much more than for my civic.
I got a BIG discount at 25
another at 30
another when married

I used to pay a thousand a year for just liability on the MR2 with GEICO. Once I got married, turned 25 and switched to my wife's insurance, it costs us 1,1xx/per year for an Outback, MR2, 240sx and a Miata though the Outback is the only one with comprehensive. Helps that Joan has never gotten a ticket ever.

Our insurance is like 1,100 a year for full coverage on the focus and durango. But we are married and both luckily have a pretty good driving record. Well Rex does anyway. And we have State Farm. We do also have renter's insurance through them, and that added a multi line discount. But that's why I like having insurance through a company that doesn't only have car insurance. It helps a good bit to have multiline discounts.

My six month premium went up for absolutely no reason for the second half of this year, just because it just cost more to insure what ever that means. One speed ticket two years ago.

i pay about $2k/yr for liability on my main car the miata and comprehensive on the weekend car the subaru. i got a reduced rate of $100 every 6 months when i hit 25, but every 6 month renewal that rolls around since then, my insurance goes up about $50. i dont really wanna switch from geico because they dont know about a couple of tickets i've gotten so i dont wanna bring it up

I pay about 900$ a year for comprehensive on my subaru and monte carlo. Two tickets in 8 years. GEICO was way higher - i'm with state farm now.

I pay $3,600 per year to insure both of my vehicles, that's on my own policy, not my parents. The STi wasn't much more to insure than my WRX... maybe 10 bucks a month.
My record is far from spotless too though =p

I did get a couple discounts through GEICO - one was being in my business frat. the other was something else, but together it was like 60 bucks / 6 months. The reason I switched was my parents inssurance company decided that my driving record wasn't a good indication of my drving ability, but my credit score would be much better. so they switched, which would have brought my insurance to well over 2 grand. I don't have bad credit, just not enough.

I was going to bring this up, I don't know how many of you know how common this has become. There's a recent Consumer Reports article that talks about it. Most of the insurance companies have come up with their own credit scoring system or subcontract it to another company, and they use that credit score, as well as driving record, to determine your rates. Oddly, some of the things they ding your score for are pretty random, and of course disfavor anyone young who doesn't have a long credit history.
Maybe you all knew, but it was news to me!
