"The" Challenger

I'm finally getting around to posting this up. I chose this forum because as I do this and that on it I will post up for all to view.

The car has all kinds of new parts. Completely new fuel system, brakes, wiring, and interior. The engine and trans were rebuilt. The 318 V8 was bored .030 over and the three speed "Slap Stick" transmission was just stock rebuilt.

The underside of the car was completely cleaned, painted, and undercoated where needed. Right now we are working on the interior and getting the windows back in. This is year 6 since the car was torn down. Yeah, we are taking our time.

Other body pics, it has set so long it needs some body rework.

ok guys. I know the Daytona is not yet done. So this project is not really ready to come back. My problem right now is our vision of what this car should be became clouded and fell apart over the 5+ year ''restoration" process. I need to decide what I am going to go for as far as the look. (see appearance forum) I already know the performance issues. Here are those stats (Items in bold are not yet acquired)-

Engine- 318cid. V8 + .030 (Sealed power pistons)
Induction- 4 barrel carb and intake to match 360 cam
Exhaust- H-pipe rear exit duals (or side exit?)
Electronics- Mopar Performance electronic ignition conversion.
Transmission- 3-speed "Slap Stick" automatic
Rearend- stock (??)
Brakes- all new 4-wheel power drums
Suspension- all new "autozone special"

Any recommendations for the carb/intake and how to go with the exhaust?

Side exit right behind the rear wheels would be hawt. These cars dont really have a nice place to flow some exhaust tips out the back like new cars do. Also, H-pipe is old school...X is where its at these days. As for the carb, you basically have holleys and qjets. I like qjets..and I have no idea what you mean by a 360 cam? I'd say get your intake to be something like idle - 5500, unless a "360 cam" is something ridiculous

Jeff, i'd love to see a boom tube exhaust coming out in front of each rear wheel. i think it would look sick and boom tubes sound insane

"360" cam is a Mopar Performance camshaft that is almost a stock cam from a 360 engine. Which is simply a 318 with a bigger bore. I was looking and summit has carb and intake kits with Edelbrock parts for $450.

And don't you forget it bitch. What kind of carb/intake are you using on your SS? What CFM? I'm looking at a 750 so we can expand later. From what I understand a 600 or a 650 does not flow as much and might not work if we do heads or if I swap in a a big block and want to reuse the carb.

Man you should scrap all of your other projects for now and work on that thing! That looks like it has a ton of potential! I can just see it with huge, wide ass slicks on the back and skinnys in the front

You can always adjust the carb if you buy a 750 so the butterflies dont open...but anyway, yes, that's what I have, a quadrajet 750. I'm using an edelbrock performer intake with it. If the mopar engines are anything like chevy engines, you're wasting your time with that 318. 5 litre chevy engines have no potential, takes a lot of money to get them up to the power levels you'd see with a cheap ass crate 350. But anyway..if you're going to swap that cam and intake and put a big 4bbl on it, you need to take the heads off and do some work to them, or get better ones, or something. headers + heads + true dual exhaust is where it's at for making power on smallblocks. Big cam isnt going to do anything for you if it cant breathe.

Yeah...we found out about the cam the hard way, thats why the engine does not run right now. Its a 2bbl carb w/ stock exhaust and a far too huge cam for it keep idle. So we are gonna do intake, 4-bbl, headers, and duals. Basically to catch up the the cam we, for some reason, decided it needed. I think this is a good excuse to do the upgrades it needed anyway. I'm gonna do a 383 or a 440 in it when I have it later on, but for now, its 318 POWAAA.
