Mason has been nominated for 2 ESPY awards this year - Best Moment and Best Coach. I'd venture that nobody needs an explanation, but for anybody living under a rock for the past few months:
Best Coach:
Larranaga (I probably spelled that wrong) lead the Mason Patriots to the Final Four in a bracket nobody expected them to win their first match in. I don't recall the statistic, but from their tournament ranking Mason is only the 2nd team in NCAA history to acheive this.
Best Moment:
Mason going winning the Elite Eight game, securing a spot in the Final Four. If you believe in emotionally charged sporting events, this was an edge-of-the-seat game. I made it home from the MotoGP season opener just in time to watch the last 2 minutes of the regular game, and go into overtime. To say that Fairfax was a happy town in the aftermath would be an understatement.
This was all really cool to watch from a somewhat inside perspective. One of my roommates drove to Indy to watch the Final Four game in person, Mason had several rooms set up for game viewing which were so packed you couldn't even sit down - coming from a school that's not known for anything, especially sports, it seemed pretty special.
I hope a few folks will take a minute to vote for us:

When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.
