Alright guys, knowing all you rainbow-loving miata owners out there, my friend is looking to get one. Probably cant afford anything more than a 98 and he wants soimething for autocross and daily driving. He would like to turbo it eventually so we were thinking he maybe needed the 1.8 liter with lower compression. However we have no idea on these motors. Any years that are impressively good for handling or suspension setup or good motors? Just let me know anything and everything about miatas, ill also be surfing some miata forums.
www.miata.net - all you need to know. There werent any 98 miatas btw The '99's are pretty affordable now, whats his budget?

lol like 5-6k
Yeah ive been looking at the forums, but im not impressed with some of the turbo information there. Actually its all very vague and they go with this greddy kit which ive looked at and it uses a shitty to4h 15g with crappy tubing and I read up that the bolts also need replacing and the downpipe is freaking cast iron!!! Can make a better kit myself. Then the fpr is a crappy one too, rather go aeromotive.
But right now we are looking for a stock miata.

If you look around you can get a '99 for 6k - I paid $7000 for mine last year and I think maeng got his for under $7k. The '99 is really worth spending a little extra cash on.

94
lightest of all the 1.8s, pretty cheap right now. Extra frame stiffening, real oil pressure gauge, no lame OBDII. These are summer cars so finding them in the 100k range isnt too hard and they are still dead nuts reliable.
Flyin' Miata turbo kit is fantastic, but its pretty spendy
tell your friend to wait till august and by my 94
2008 Mazda 3
one more thing, 94s and 95s had lower than specified 8.8 compression
i got my 2000 LS for 6100. its a fun car, but obdII sucks and the computer likes to throw check engine lights

Remember all y'all got ridiculous deals that you have to search long and hard for or straight luck, I found one that price range and it was ragged, just be careful out there.

Found an excellent deal after negotiating on a 1992 miata.
It is red with a brand new black convertible top. It has 88k miles.
Mods include, Racing Beat intake
Racing Beat Springs
Koni yellow shocks
17-inch no name rims
205 Kumho Escta 712 tires
Act Stage 1?? clutch
A few things need to be replaced just in case.
Rotors/pads
Timing belt and accessory belt
And of course we will do the regular maintenance
Plugs/wires/radiator flush/oil change
While we are at it, we will change the valve cover gasket and o-ring gaskets as they are leaking just a little bit.
The car runs strong as hell, Suspension is good and the car is EXCELLENT, and an incredible steal at 3500 dollars. We kept telling him things wrong with the car lol. The car also has perfect interior, and when I say perfect, it is like brand new off the factory, not even scuff marks on the seats...Ill get some pictures when we clay bar it and clean up the car a little bit. All we have done so far is wash and wax.

I guess it depends on how much value you put on the bolt on stuff

I say that because it has 88k miles and everywhere I looked, no other miatas in that price range touched that, especially with a new top and perfect interior.
Hey I just saw this MFer 66 and honked at him. So did you guys buy the car from a guy named Kyle or what?
